I miss them too, they went out in their prime. This interview does NOT give me hope that he’s going to do anything with Northstar again. Cassino is great but Northstar was super important to me at the time!
Can't believe this is 20. I remember I was on my way to see SoCo, Finch and NFG in Toronto and decided to stop in the HMV superstore. I saw this cd and bought it solely on the sticker on the front. I'm glad I did! Also because of the TAYF liner notes.
So glad i was able to see Northstar back in 2004 in the smallest shittiest bar in Montgomery AL. One of my favorite shows and Nick was the nicest guy to talk to afterwards.
Northstar just had something different to their sound with Nick's voice and such interesting guitar parts. I really wish Pollyanna had a proper follow-up. Still listen to it quite regularly (along with Cassino's Yellowhammer).
I'm not sure if that user is still around, maybe under a different username, but @Broken Parachute was one of the most active members on AP.net back in the day.
Gabe is playing drums for Hot Rod Circuit on their latest run of shows. Here is to hoping he gets the itch to play some Northstar dates with Nick.
late but didn’t realize this was on streaming. Love the acoustic “My Ricochet”…wish the “Chesterfield King” cover was on this though
Nick Torres of Northstar/Cassino was recently interviewed on a show called SADurdays. Nothing new to report, host did a pretty weak with it, but always good to hear from Nick. SADurdays Episode 50 (3/15/25) special guest Nick Torres (Northstar + Cassino)
I would love a Northstar reunion. Cassino is good but I feel like they had some great stuff left in them with the direction they were heading with Pollyanna
