Northstar Band

Northstar was an American band formed in 1997 in Huntsville, Alabama. They broke up in 2005 but their music lives on and is fondly remembered as some of the best from the mid 00s emo/pop punk era. Pollyanna is what some might call a "scene classic," with the unique lyrics from Nick Torres and the angular riffs and grooves laid down by the rest of the band setting them apart from many of their peers. Discuss what this band means to you below, did you listen to them when they were around? Were you late to the party like I was but nonetheless taken aback by their music?

The drum sounds on this record are seriously so damn good. Nick's lyrics are fantastic. Just a fantastic album. This one flew way under the radar. The way this record has been pretty awesome as well.

Pollyanna is the only album by them I care for but yeah it's definitely one of the best records from that time in the scene. I remember it got a lot of comparisons to Deja Entendu and that pretty much sealed the deal for me.

Title track and American Living are probably my two favorites from the record if I had a gun to my head. I love the main riff in the title track.

"You move me like I've got new feet" is one of my favorite lyrics by anyone.

Also their acoustic version of "Chesterfield King" from Broken Parachute fights for being my favorite song of theirs, cover or not.

Polyanna is such a great record. ITTL never hooked me in as hard, except for that first song.

Cassino is cool and all but man, what I would give to hear what a Northstar record in 2016 would sound like.

Pollyanna is quite simply one of my favorite records of all time. It's great how well that thing holds up today. Completely underrated album and band.
