I'm fully a Node stan now. Listening to the original right now and I can't believe I slept on it or wrote it off for so long. Might be just me but I also feel like some of the ambience in the original gets lost in the revamp. Not sure which one I prefer.
Didn't realize the original was done with Will Putney, it sure doesn't hit the same as his other produced work sonically.
Yep that’s my biggest issue with the Node rerelease as well… but some of the songs do go a lot harder. The big singles especially feel like big singles now, mix has way more presence.
Holy shit that's great. Exactly what I want from them. Oddly I've been on a Northlane kick the last couple of weeks. Mainly Alien, Obsidian, and Mirror's Edge. I didn't give Mirrors Edge enough of a chance when it came out. Didn't click. But its now clicking. Damn its good. I tried Mesmer again and didn't find anything that stood out. I tried Node: Reloaded and its ok, but kinda the same for me as Mesmer. Alien is where it takes off for me. Especially those first 4 tracks. Obsidian is one of my fav albums in the past 10 years. Was coming into this thread today to post that and no shit a notification and a new song. I am pleased. (I call them glitchy cyberpunk synth nu-metal)
This is hitting a ton of vibes I was hoping for from them… and it’s somehow a very challenging listen. There are some WILD things happening with the mix and my brain is still comprehending. I gave it a few listens earlier and started to maybe feel like it was sinking in… came back to it hours later… NOPE… it’s like I’m figuring it out all over again lol.
after the techno/electronics in the intro i didn't expect it to go so heavy, amazing track! thanks for sharing @tvck , i haven't jammed northlane in a while
i thought that was horrible ima be honest lmao, these guys continue to be a complete roll of the dice for me
it is exactly how i reacted to echo chamber when that song came out lmao, gotta remember that this is not a band where i can trust my first impressions
tickles my brain. as someone who was really into producers with great sound design like Kill The Noise, older Porter Robinson, Knife Party, Zeds Dead, Skrillex, etc. in the early 2010s, it's great seeing Northlane do some of that.
The trancey synths immediately reminded me of classic Enter Shikari then it jumped into that off kilter drop. Wild song. Wonder how many songs the EP will contain
believe there was an interview recently with Jon where he mentioned next thing was an EP and another of their older albums rerecorded for this year
yeah for a long time theyve been standing their ground on the "no new lps" thing, first i heard about this being on an album proper was within the last 72 hours. im sure theyre gonna be doing a lot of press soon though
