I like it, don't necessarily love it but I do love All Hail so I'm down for this And god yea Cory needs to just shut up and listen to others, which he's at least been doing the first part for a bit from what I know
"All Hail" was my AOTY in 2019. Don't love this as immediately as I expected, but they consistently put out intriguing albums that push the genre, though they definitely feel overlooked. Had a sort of reckoning with this band after the BLM things, but I did find his apology interview to be alright.
Song is fine, Jeff Hickley’s absence sucks. Thought he would be back in the fold for this one. I’ll preorder the record later.
Jeff’s insta posts suggest he’s done with music and absolutely done with touring. I don’t think he’s even talked to Corey since he was out. Bummer.
Anyways, this single didn’t do much for me. Hopefully the next one does. Perhaps, I’ll spin All Hail later since I have it on vinyl.
Do you remember what interview that was? It's been awhile, so I'm a little foggy on the details. Would be interested in listening/reading if you have a link.
Listened a few more times and while it's not a bad song, it just doesn't seem to do a lot for me. I keep waiting for it to go somewhere, too - but never happens. Not a strong option for first single in my opinion.
New song is pretty good. I’m still not like… actually excited but I’ve definitely added the record to my library to listen to when it comes out.
During the first minute or so I was like "it's good but I'm starting to get afraid they're stagnating" then that sudden math-y riff came on and blew my face off. I like how the melodic chorus is giving The Anti Mother vibes as well. Sounds like a solid mixture of various eras overall.
I was just waiting for my speakers to explode at the end there. Neither the speakers, nor my ears have recovered. In fact, I’ve been abusing the shit out of both of them with repeated assaults of Spearmint Revolt. Also, I have to admit that before reading this album title for the first time, the only time I had heard the term death rattle before was in Fight Club.
I knew it from a fantasy series I read but didn’t know it was a term that existed outside of that world for a while, haha.
