My first thought when it expanded was that it was shaped almost like a Yugioh/Pokemon character kinda, haha. I'm also pretty sure the actual "mouth" was supposed to resemble a camera. I can't wait for some detailed art of it
Also, I’m claustrophobic as fuck so the scene where the spectators get sucked up got me good — real Fire In the Sky vibes then as well. Raining blood on the house was great too. Keke and Daniel were so good.
Yeah up until that point I was still thinking, "well, is this really a horror movie?" Part of me thought the blood was Icee lmao I was kinda meh immediately after, but after a few hours thinking about it I loved this
what a rockin time at the movies. cast was great, tight script. can't stress enough how crazy cool it looked in IMAX at Lincoln Square. highly recommend to see it there if in the areas
The funniest thing about this having seen it now, is that I would not consider this a horror. Like, I’ve never viewed Jaws as a horror. Suspenseful, sure. A few slightly scary moments, but nowhere near enough to call this horror. This tweet only gets more bizarre. What an asshat. yea, the first half dragged a bit for me. Third act was top notch though. I think part of it is what feels like a lack of payoff of the Gordy storyline. I kept waiting for it to tie in more with present day with the way they kept talking about it. But ultimately, it just explains Glenn’s actions in present day. He feels like he has a special connection with it like he did Gordy and that he would be safe because even when Gordy lost it, he just went for the fist bump with him. So of course he thinks he has an in with Jean Jacket. now knowing the context and how a lot of the first hour comes back in the second half makes me like it more after the fact. yea, I thought the simple design was really effective. Then expanding at the end looked really cool. Some really nice shots.
Mostly loved it, some things I’m wondering about, really feel like it could have been sped up a bit. Don’t feel like we needed the monkey stuff at all.
I think the Gordy storyline had more significance tbh. The concept of pushing/training "animals". And not sure if this is right but a balloon pop made Gordy freak out - a balloon pop defeated the monster
Overall, I enjoyed it. Third act made it all worth it. am I a bad person for being the only one in my theater who laughed when the TMZ guy ate shit on his bike? thought all the leads did a great job. the fake out aliens was very funny. I sat forward trying to see what they looked like and suddenly the reveal happened. I was just like, “you son of a bitch! You got me!” the director killing himself was a little odd. But they did show him watching a bunch of predator footage. He clearly was fascinated and saw this as a way to see it up close for himself. Overall, a solid theater experience. Minus the sociopath who brought a baby to an r rated movie on opening night who cried off and on. Fuck you.
Yea, that’s there, but I think you get more of that from OJ and the horses. Gordy is more important in informing Glenn’s character. I know that’s his walking dead character. When I was watching the movie I couldn’t think of Glenn and now I can’t think of the actors name. Stupid brain.
Also, I assume there was no post credits scene. I noped right out of there cause it’s a work night, baby.
With basically zero time to let this marinate I gotta say my kneejerk impression is a little meh. Really loved the leads though, and Jean Jacket was beautiful. Peele is excellent at visuals. But the pacing felt poor and the plot kinda messy
Also shout out to the family of like 6 that laughed obnoxiously at everything Keke said (like even things that weren’t jokes), took turns standing up at their seats for a few minutes at a time, and then promptly bounced like 90 minutes in Hope ol JJ swung on em in the parking lot
I don’t think anything TBH. Maybe I’m wrong. I just took it as a weird freak accident/memory that Jupe focused on during the whole Gordy ordeal
