Is it me, or is a lot of dialogue in this ADR’d?

Thought overall it was alright; not as wowed with it as others here. Only truly "scary", or creepy, scene was when OJ was in the barn area at night and encountered the kids in the costumes; how they moved really slow. I truly thought it was the aliens basically, until we find out they're just kids

Really, nothing else in the film I found to be as scary/creepy. Everything else was mainly just “Oh that’s a bit weird/different”. But the way that barn scene was filmed got me going a bit

Wait a goddamn second, the spectators all bunched up in its digestive tract? Hearing them scream in there as it flew around? Blood raining on the house?

The Gordy scene gets pretty intense

Nah, I mean it was pretty weird, but it wasn’t “scary”

Definitely find that “creepier,” at least the shot going up the screen/tract and hearing the screams. Huge claustrophobic here, though.

I don’t really think any of the movie scared me, but it was good, which is what matters. Tbh none of Peele’s movies are outright scary to me—there are definitely moments of creepiness, but what’s more important to me is that they are unique, inventive takes on the horror genre.

No movies actually scare me anymore, I look for that creepy feeling/imagery/idea or a sense of dread/uneasiness.

  17. I don't even think if I'd call this a horror movie

For me it’s that after he shuts off the lights, and turns around to walk away, the lights turn on again. He turns around, and then we see this black thing farther down the way. It then slowly moves, makes a sound (I think), and moves closer. That’s when (if I remember) OJ was like “Nope”. I was watching this on my laptop too, so I really couldn’t make out what it was. It’s the fear of the unknown, of what you can’t see or understand clearly, that gets me. Kind of like the scene in the movie “Signs”, where the family hears the aliens outside the house, and then the camera pans down at the door and we see the alien finger come under the door. That was creepy/scary as fuck for me the first time I saw it, as we don’t visually see the alien itself behind the door at that moment - we just see the hand, so our mind then races to fill in the picture of what that alien might look like.

A living “spaceship” that swallows up people/things, and we see the insides of it - it was sooo “out there”, something my mind hadn’t thought of before, that it didn’t register it as “scary” to me. It was more just “wacky” to me

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I don't really think of this as an outright horror either but that digestive tract scene is one of the scariest things i've seen in years lol

  21. During the barn scene I remember thinking "please don't go in this direction" and was so relieved it was a fake out

Yeah the giant monster killing a crowd of people and their screams echoing above a house as their blood rains down, if that's not horror I don't know what is. I haven't seen anything more unnerving in a big movie like this maybe ever. This movie takes cues from a lot of genres, you can call it sci-fi or a monster movie or whatever, but it is a horror movie.
