It’s not in the movie from what I recall, but Keith David was Ottis Haywood Sr. They would only specify the Sr if there was a jr. So OJ was likely Ottis Jr. hence, OJ.
No I got that, OJ explains it in the scene at the studio. I’m just confused why Peele chose to name him that lol
A movie about profiting off your own trauma/terror and how sick in the head the entertainment industry can make you. Fucking fantastic
I’m still critical of Us, I think this was much more logistically sound, all of the ideas tied up neatly together even if we didn’t get all of the larger explanation of where Jean Jacket came from.
ppl getting digested scene is also taken directly from akira, it’s like they’ve been consumed by tetsuo’s mutating body :)
I remember reading about Peele being approached to adapt Akira but he turned it down here it is: https://www.indiewire.com/2017/05/jordan-peele-not-directing-akira-1201817920/
Never would have guessed 10 years ago Jordan Peele would become one of our most exciting auteurs but here we are. This film is clearly influenced by Spielberg, Carpenter & Shyamalan while 100% feeling like something truly original and only Peele could make. He really gives it his all and stuffs in so many ideas in to his movies. Cannot wait to see this again and of course, i'll be there day one for whatever he makes next
Back for more Jaws commentary. Antlers is clearly the Quint character and when he is cranking on his homemade non-electric camera, it reminded me a lot of Quint and his giant fishing pole reel. Also, Em finishing off JJ after taking several cracks at it and then nailing the Oprah shot after getting it to attempt to swallow the ballon (like the tank) seemed to me kinda like Chief Brody. I’m probably reaching but w/e I loved this movie so much and I love Jaws so much
The more I think about this, the more my initial questions fade and the more I love it. I wanna see this again.
credit where credit is due Keke pointed it out Keke Palmer Feels Seen by All Her Memes: “It Really Touches Me” also obviously Emerald is the Emerald City from Wizard Of Oz
Maybe I'm getting old and my tinnitus is acting up, but I thought it was a real mumble fest from Kaluuya and the cinematorgapher guy. Y'all gotta enunciate better.
I kinda had trouble hearing some of the dialogue too. Think it.kight be easier to catch some of it on second watch/with subtitles in the future
