While I don’t listen to NOFX much these days, I’m still pretty emotional about their end. Can’t help but feel this is the official beginning of the end of that era. 90s skate punk was so pivotal to me growing up and, just damn, lots of feelings outta nowhere.
Saw the second night in mass and they were really good, much better live than I’d been led to believe. Hearing the decline live was a bucket lister and will go down as an all time favorite show moment for me. Can’t speak to the California shows but overall it felt like a perfectly executed end to a band from the show I saw.
From what I saw, they took these pretty seriously and really put in work to sound great. I know Smelly doesn’t drink anymore and pretty sure they all stayed sober for at least these final weekend shows.
"Mike is a complicated person, but he is not a thief." NOFX reveal that guitarist Eric Melvin is suing band leader Fat Mike, accusing him of "financial malfeasance" after 42 years together | Louder
As much as I like NOFX, I find Fat Mike to be a kind of detestable human being. Reading Mark Hoppus's book right now, and he tells the story about how Fat Mike talked shit about Blink-182 when they first got big, but would be fake and cool to them in person until Travis got in his face and called out his bullshit, and then Mike was cool again.
