NOFX have shared the new song “What Are We Doing This For.” The band have also announced a new rarities collection.

"Hey y'all, Fat Mike here.... NOFX never finished our last album. Boo! But we did manage to record drums and guitars on several songs and out of those, I finished vocals on four of them. This is one of those songs, also... I liked the lyrics on this song a lot, but it needs two singers to sing them. I tried it with Melvin, but it was kinda poopee. So I asked the singers of my other band The Codefendants to sing this song with me cuz they are experienced at singing songs that have way too many lyrics in them.... Some people call it rapping. I also got a Mexican that I used to be in a band with to play some guitar leads. These leads make my ears happy. Thanks Hefe. In conclusion, there's not a lot of new NOFX songs. I think there's five or six left that I need to finish.... but I don't wanna.... so enjoy this one. It's all there is for a while.... I'm smiling right now..."

September 26, 2025 - Los Angeles, CA – NOFX has tapped Codefendants for an angst-driven punk anthem that embodies the best parts of both artist projects. The song marks one of NOFX’s final new recordings, and was one of just several tracks that Fat Mike considered finished from the band’s (unfinished) final album.

Fat Mike’s other artist project - Codefendants - lent a helping hand to NOFX on this one - making for the ultimate collaborative moment blending NOFX’s signature sound with the trio’s defiant genre-fluid sound that mixes punk, hip-hop, and hardcore.

Since this NOFX song was recorded so early in the process of making the first Codefendants album, the whole experience felt surreal to me. The track had that classic hardcore / crossover energy—which reminded me of Suicidal Tendencies in the 80s—and there was Fat Mike himself coaching Sam and me through these dense, fast lyrics he’d written about the Trump Q era of disinformation and anti-intellectualism. I believed in the message completely, but what really struck me was how rare and cool the opportunity was. It was one of those life-changing moments in music where I thought: even if nothing ever came from these recordings, just having been there was enough. Now, years later, seeing it finally come out makes it all the more special." - Julio “Ceschi” Ramos
