I interviewed Noah for this piece about encores at live shows and how some artists have stopped doing them. Death of the Encore - Behind the Setlist I did ask him about his plans for an album this year, and he just said "TBA." I'd guess an announcement is coming soon.
my heart always skips a little when I see this thread get bumped with you as the most recent post. looking forward to reading that article. I'm very okay with encore's being dead.
For my money, Ledges and Carry the Ghost are both top 10 records of the decade so far. Ledges is either my number one or my number two.
Both are just so good. It's weird, if pressed I'd say I like Ledges best but I find myself listening to Carry the Ghost more.
I'm not as big a fan of Family, but all his stuff is good. I've been spinning it more recently, but that's because I played Ledges like 200 times in 2014. Ha
Carry The Ghost is my 3rd most listened to album in the past year+ after Southeastern and 22, A Million.. I don't think I could ever pick between the two though.
Ledges is front to back perfect. I don't think Carry the Ghost is, but I find the thematic arc of CTG so moving that I probably still wouldn't change anything about it.
Honestly it could be 16 songs long and I wouldn't mind it. All 3 of the bonus tracks are album worthy. Especially Alright.
Ghost>Ledges all the way, Ledges is still amazing, but I really like the direction he started heading with CTG.
ledges has this red burning beauty i can't turn away from. reminds me of marigolden in that way. whereas the colors in carry the ghost are more muted, which kinda bummed me out when i first heard it. still love them both
The new Field Report songs are soooooooo good. Saw Chris open for Noah and Field Report opened for The Shouting Matches last Thursday in Eau Claire. It was fucking magical.
He also came out with Bon Iver to do Prine's "Unwed Fathers" and it was one of the best songs performed during that set
Well Noah has a casting call for a music video this weekend. So we know there's at least 1 song done.
