It's interesting to me that he basically agrees with your "restless" assessment of his music. Did you come to that prior to speaking with him just based on the album itself? I guess I had a sense of it live back in Oct 2015, but I haven't heard the album yet so I don't know if I would immediately pick up that specific sensation. @Craig Manning
It's a few things. Definitely the album, but also the press release that accompanied the download/stream. There was a bit in the press release about how he "felt like he was dying" or something while on that acoustic tour for Ghost. He definitely didn't seem content when I saw him, so that sort of confirmed it. Plus, I remembered how he seemed to feel about Ledges when I talked to him a few years ago, so I knew he had that tendency.
Ha, I don't know! I haven't shut up about him for the past three and a half years. That's probably my second favorite album of the decade so far.
Here, I stand on the edge of the ledges I've made Looking for a steady hand Who can't relate to that lyric?
Don't miss out on the Twenty Something EP. It's a bridge between his first two records that has some songs that wreck me, including an early version of "Heartbreaker", which turns into something incredible on the next album. Listen to that a few times before Carry The Ghost.
Fuck. This cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" reminds me of Johnny Cash when he did "Hurt" It's like he was meant to sing it!
