Anybody want to Dropbox me styrofoam or the new album to me??? I can’t get enough of RW and lover. I need more. Cheers
It's a slow, atmospheric song that puts the focus on Noah's voice. Main instruments are piano and drums. Some pitch-shifted vocals. It pairs really well with "Lover" sonically, though it's not as big or bombastic. Kind of sounds like something that might have shown up in the middle section of I like it when you sleep...
Yup. As much as that album really misses the mark for me because of most of the middle tracks it really does have a great ending. I enjoy the first few songs a lot too.
Interesting, so the first 9+ minutes of the album are all pretty slow. Would you say that's indicative of the overall tone? WHITE NOISE had a few rockers.
Can't bring myself to skip anything from Ledges or CTG. Hell, the bonus tracks on CTG are essential to me. Especially "Alright".
Yeah, it's definitely a pretty downbeat record. Definitely nothing in the vein of "Number One Hit of the Summer," though "All My Friends" is a different kind of banger. Me neither. What made the inconsistency of White Noise so surprising was that he hadn't had that issue at all on the previous full-lengths. Ledges is up there with the most song-for-song perfect albums of the decade, imo.
I'm pretty excited for this record, in part because CTG came out almost 4 years ago and around that same time I moved into my current apartment and listened to it a lot. Now I'm moving again next month and I get another August/late summer Noah album to soundtrack it
I love that he clearly wrote all these songs in his OG Ledges style and then produced the everliving hell out of them.
Never listened to this dude before today. Checked out the two singles and Robin Williams was fine, but Lover is a lot more my style. Is that an outlier for this guy or is there more in his catalogue/ on this album like that?
He’s skewed way more toward the former style so far, but this album is kind of a mix of those two extremes.
It grows on me with every listen. My current nighttime music rotation has been Clairo, Bon Iver, and this ... it's very good.
