Sooo interesting how music can cause completely different reactions in people

One pass-through of Lover and I remembered for the millionth time why he is my favorite singer-songwriter. Still killing it. Loved reading all of the initial impressions, Craig. I'm wondering if there's anything as heavy as Wake Me Up I'm Drowning or even Send the Rain on this record.

Not huge on lover but I’m sure it’ll grow on me

Lover is easily the least I've ever enjoyed a Noah single on first listen. I'm sure that will change though.

  9. Genuinely shocked.

I liked Robin Williams more but Lover is still pretty good

On the whole, I'd call this a more understated record than White Noise. It doesn't really have those same "crush of sound" moments that you had at the end of "Drowning" or "Rain." The most White Noise song is definitely "Out of Time," which bears a lot of similarity to "Sweet Talker."

Huh! Surprised at this, but maybe I'm forgetting what his singles have been.

Already coming around on it big time. My first listen was seconds after I woke up on a broken iPhone. Listening in the car made of world of difference. The end is massive.

I still really REALLY like it. Don't know if I'd pick it over anything in this list though:

    Robin Williams
    Bad Desire
    Heavy Metals
    The Sound
    Jealous Love
    Slow Dancer

To be fair, that's an incredible list of songs.

Ha, okay, yeah, tough competition there. Man, he's good at the pre-release single game.

I'll say this album is reminding me how much I love his voice. I think it often got overshadowed by the production a bit on the last record, but this record kind of gets back the intimacy of Ledges/Ghost while still very much being another step forward in his progression.

Only song I'm not really sold on is "Older." That's the one I assume he was referencing when he named The Weeknd as an influence, and...yeah, not a big fan of The Weeknd.

The beat pattern I found to be pretty odd at first; it was hard to feel/understand what he was going for. But I've come around to it

Gotta be super stoked on this song if you’re a fan of Noah and The 1975

I wish I could say something but silence is fine.

Not a huge fan of Lover on first listen, still strong (latter) Bon Iver vibes, which I really like.
