its easily explainable that he was wearing some sort of armor or bullet proof vest or something of that nature but yeah i thought the same thing, like we **knew** he wasnt dying in that scene, which made it even a little more of an odd decision.
And one of the other henchmen Bond nearly strangles with a wire/rope thing, and slams his head violently against a concrete block thing, yet the guy shows up later seemingly pain or injury free with no head trauma?
the intro scene/flashback into the present day Italy chase scene is one of my favorite openings of a Bond film, and maybe my overall favorite part of this movie.
Well seemingly that strangulation and forced head trauma would have practically killed the dude, so much so that I thought we'd get a plot about a substance evil villain has that makes you basically invincible; but then that plot never materialized, so I got very confused on how the bad dudes could basically live injury-free through anything Bond through at them
A general rule of thumb I have with any film in this series is unless you see the person double-tapped by Bond at point blank range, they’re still alive (and probably working through extreme pain).
Safin is definitely Dr. No, right? They just did it in a bit more subtle way that most of the references in Spectre? As he's fleeing, one of his goons calls him "Doctor."
I feel if they did decide to make him Dr. No, they would have more explicitly mentioned his Dr. No name somewhere
Yeah i dont think fan theories were right here. No way theyd reboot an iconic bond villain without expressly mentioning the name at some point.
I just feel like there are so many similarities. The wardrobe, the base/lair, the entire aesthetic. He's essentially Dr. No in everything but name.
i mean could the creation of the villain of Safin have been inspire by Dr. No? certainly, but yeah secret lair and villain-y appearance is just not enough for me to say yes that's him. that describes most bond villains.
There were some flaws but overall I loved it. Some more subtle ways to get the gadgets and one liners in. I kind of figured they would end it like that and it honestly doesn’t bother me. Rami was bad though. And I could definitely feel PWB contributions to the script.
For some reason decided to watch Spectre before seeing this Sunday. Might have to split it up over today and tomorrow though lol.
It *almost* feels like they originally planned on having Safin be Dr. No, and then changed their minds in the editing room. I know they practically had all the time in the world (groan) to get a definitive cut of this movie, but it does manage to feel like the product of last minute script changes/reshoots at times.
God I’m going to miss Danny. They really squandered his time as Bond. So much right but so, so much wrong in many of these attempts.
Loved it. I don’t know if a Bond movie has ever made me cry before. Headed home to start over from the beginning.
But I don’t…get that, though. What would that accomplish? He has no name recognition, and people hated the attempted Blofeld fake out. I really think it was just an homage and nothing more.
1. Casino Royale 2. No Time to Die 3. Quantum of Solace 4. Skyfall 5. Spectre I’ve already been told I’m crazy for having QoS over Skyfall so you can just keep those to yourself lol.
https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/daniel-craig-quantum-of-solace-shit-show/ Now, I like QOS, but this is funny.
Def just an homage. It seems like there were subtle or sometimes not so subtle references to quite a few other Bond movies I reallllly liked the For Your Eyes Only bit I like this movie
