I mean, I don't know how you watch that trailer and don't realize that Ana de Armas is clearly the "first" Bond girl (aka RIP). All her shots seem to be from the same scene.
I enjoyed it, but those tweets posted are pretty hyperbolic. Something about it seemed off, but it’s still enjoyable. Malek is a creepy villain and Ana is not really in it that much, but she def wins her scenes, I feel. Might have helped if I had time to watch the last couple movies prior, but it’s not totally necessary. Ultimately, it felt more like a Craig send off than just a Bond movie, for better or worse. The cars are great and there are some great Bond movie moments.
You'd think I would get tired of his schtick and maybe when people stop falling for them and POSTING THEM IN ACTUAL NEWS ARTICLES I will, but for now, keep it coming, dude.
Fun fact. ComicBook.com actually used his review of Shang-Chi in a round-up (to be fair, it was more normal looking than his usual). I actually decided to be a nice person and emailed them to let them know what they'd done, after which they thanked me and promptly removed the tweet from the article.
Man, even if they don't know who Ben Mekler is, you'd think they'd notice the references to Garfield and think "Hm... something seems suspicious."
Seeing people saying this is silly and Roger Moore comparisons and YES PLEASE. I’ll take one ticket to the spy movie.
I’m here for whatever at this point, but the fact that they made one of the best spy films ever with Casino and never really figured out why that worked so well (compared to the MI series finding their exact formula and running with it) will always kinda bum me out cause we coulda had two awesome franchises firing on all cylinders with two all timer leads at the same.
Without any spoilers - I enjoyed a lot of this. The opening is borderline horror and from there, the first hour is a balls to the wall rollercoaster of action sequences. The movie definitely loses steam in the second half. Rami Malek’s character doesn’t deliver on the threat of him in the opening. It was funny to see the dummy from “Game Night” in this (who’s reunited with fellow “Game Night”-er Jeffrey Wright.) I still don’t quite believe the chemistry of Seydoux and Craig, but there’s at least some warmth between this time. In the words of the British, the new 007 is given fuck-all to do, but there’s hints that of a great character there. Ana De Armas owns the 10 minutes that she’s in this. Fukunaga’s kinetic direction does add some freshness to it. If “Casino Royale” was too Bourne for some Bond fans, he might be a little too Jack Bauer here (minus the blind nationalism). I’d say this slots nicely in at number 3 for me, being the last one of this series I’d revisit (I feel no need to watch QoS or Spectre ever again.)
Oh yeah and that one tweet that said you can feel Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s work in this - I wish it were true, but if I didn’t know she was involved from the credits, I couldn’t tell you what she contributed.
