I'm a huge fan of Boyle so this sucks but he's also a bit of a creative wildcard so I can see if the producers didn't want Craig's last outing to get real weird with it.
Aren’t they still using the Purvis and Wade script? That’s done and it wasn’t set to start filming until November. Think it could still be on track.
still think it probably could, production was set for December which is still months away, I assume the story and script have been mostly written by now, maybe he just didn't like where they were taking it, and now they just need to find someone who does. I still think it can stay on track though.
Decent/Good: Trainspotting The Beach Slumdog Millionaire Amazing: 28 Days Later 127 Hours Steve Jobs Masterpiece: Sunshine The rest I haven't seen or don't care about.
While I like Sunshine, there's no way that's a masterpiece. Also, this movie now holds zero interest for me with Danny gone. Just give us Elba bond. That's all I want now.
I think it's his masterpiece and one of the best sci fi movies of the last 20 years. I love every aspect of it and it's extremely well made.
I can understand if people don't like where the last third went, but I thought it was interesting and made sense. Plus, without it, would something like an engine or tracking software failing throwing the mission into turmoil be better than what they did with Pinbacker?
Earlier this year we covered Boyle's movie on our podcast and ranked each of our top five. His visual flair is kind of interesting but some of the movies he's gotten acclaim for I don't necessarily get. Either way -- I had the top five as 1. Sunshine 2. 28 days later... 3. Trainspotting 4. The Beach 5. Millions Top two are greats for me. I like Trainspotting and T2, just not two movies I want to revisit often. The Beach is far from great and it's an extremely poor adaptation but I have a soft spot for it. And Millions surprised me. Found it to be charming and odd.
