I don’t know if this is for me. Did a few eps of the show/webseries and am about halfway into this and don’t really find it funny.
I turned it off. The 2008 stuff is fun I guess but I don’t think it’s for me. Maybe I’ll go back to the show in some time and see if I warm up to it.
I've heard a lot of good stuff about the movie but have been hesitant to check it out because I've never seen anything from these guys. Do you need to know anything to fully appreciate the movie?
I don’t think it’d hurt to watch some of their shorts or watch a few episodes of the show to get a feel for their humor and the overall concept of the series
Same here. Never seen a thing or the trailer. Loved it. I’d say if you don’t like the first 20 minutes then you’ll know.
I went in as a fan but I think the movie does a really good job of telling you everything you need to know in the first 5 minutes and then being pretty well self contained. I will say, I saw it twice in theaters. Once at a Q&A with a sold out crowd of fans and a 2nd time as the AMC mystery movie. It played way better with a big crowd that was into it from the jump, but the people who saw without even knowing what movie they'd be seeing, mostly seemed to be on board within half an hour and were fully laughing out loud the rest of the way. It'll probably not hit quite as hard at home but I still think there's a lot to love even as a new comer watching this on your TV.
Yeah the theater was pretty full when I saw it and the whole crowd was into it. Definitely made it much more fun
I wasn’t familiar before watching the movie, and I thought it was clever and charming enough but I didn’t find it all that funny. I think I would’ve had more fun seeing it in the theater.
I really like the show and the movie but I don’t think either made me actually laugh outside of a handful of scenes from both.
There is one scene in particular that gave me the biggest out-loud laugh I've had in a theater so far this decade
I think the hardest I’ve laughed in theaters at a new movie this decade is Nathan Lane feeding the sewer boys in Dicks: The Musical
Honestly, the movie made me react in ways no movie has in years. Big laughs, utter shocks of disbelief, so many big emotions lol
This movie is absolutely the hardest I’ve laughed in a movie theater this last decade (outside of Jackass Forever but that’s cheating)
This was so fucking good lol not even as laugh out loud funny as it was just insanely impressive from a writing and editing standpoint, which of course has always been a strength of theirs. Thought it was great until the final five minutes which were literally perfect and made me tear up a little (I watched with my bandmates lol)
