I truthfully never got into Nirvana beyond a couple songs here and there until late 2018. I'd been a Foo Fighters fan for years, loved Teen Spirit, but just...never dove into their discography. It took monumental depression and seeing Beautiful Boy on a dreary Saturday afternoon to get me to go out and buy a copy of Nevermind. They've been one of my most consistently played bands since. It's insane how fresh they still sound 30 years later.
Nevermind has aged very well. People still draw on that album (and lots of other Nirvana work) as inspiration. It’s he’s for people to understand the music industry impact that album had but it’s huge.
Gonna have a real hard time not buying that super deluxe vinyl set. I'm hoping maybe one of those Sound of Vinyl/UDiscover promo codes pops up and works on pre-orders.
Played Nevermind today, it really holds up. All the re-releases and deluxe versions still feel like soulless cash grabs.
New band with Krist, Matt of Pearl Jam/Soundgarden, Kim from Soundgarden, and others. They just surprise released their debut album. 3rd Secret - 3rd Secret (April 11, 2022) • forum.chorus.fm
Round of 32: (4) Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American vs. (29) Nirvana - Nevermind • forum.chorus.fm vote for the album that’s good and not bad
I think it goes - teen spirit - come as you are - lithium - heart shaped box - all apologies - in bloom
Teen Spirit at the top, but that order seems fair and you could just mix them around and still not be wrong.
it's come as you are. was their second biggest during the band's time in sales/radio and is still their second biggest on streaming. i'd argue it should be in bloom but yeah.
Heart Shaped Box for me. that video was just sooo good and consumed me as a ten year old kid. The song that most excited me was years later when they released You Know You're Right. It was such a big event to me. Freshman year of college and getting new Nirvana material. Will always love that song and have a special place for it. And kudos to radio and MTV making a huge deal of it. Nothing in the last 2 decades rock related was made to be that big, that I can remember.
