It does have an easy mode. You just can't beat the whole game with it, git gud

 

It’s just funny to me because if I was 10 I would be able to coast through it. I’m 30 and now stink at video games.

everyone buy Katana Zero. the gameplay is like Celeste, but you're a katana-wielding-ninja. it's not a 'metroidvania' like I originally thought it might be, it's more like a puzzle platformer where you need to clear rooms to advance. if you die you go immediately back to the start of that level, making trial and error a part of the game. there's a wild story, your dialogue choices matter, the soundtrack is ace, and the moment to moment action feels good.
