Breath of Fire I & II on GBA were like the JRPGs I most obsessed over after Golden Sun. I remember being so totally captivated by how dark and weird those worlds were back in the day. I would not be as huge of a JRPG fan as I am today if not for those GBA ports.

 

The BOF games are better on GBA because you get more XP per battle, double I think
