Gold/Silver aren't even the best Johto games

 

Speaking of Gold/Silver, I still to this day don't think I've ever been more hyped over anything in any game than I was the moment I became the Johto champion and learned I now got to go back to Kanto, go all the way through the first game's world to see how it's changed, and become the Kanto champion too. It was mind-blowing and shocking and thrilling on a level that I still can't adequately articulate. Could be my top gaming moment of all time.

I remember being so sad when I got to Cinnabar in Silver lol

 

It's really incredible how melancholy so much of that stretch of the game is. And in a "kid's game" too. So brilliant.

 

Let's Go sucked dog shit but it got one thing right - shiny hunting was actually fun

it took me a full year to force myself through Let's Go but i finished it im entitled to my salt

 

I meant more on the shiny hunting lol

 

Shiny hunting isn't supposed to be fun IMO I'm okay with how annoying it is in base games

I do think SwSh is the worst for shiny hunting given that it both
-uses overworld enemies
-does not display that an overworld enemy is shiny
which can make it less RNG and more just missing things which is much more frustrating than RNG

 

Hence why I only breed for shinies and do not chain/hunt

 

Legit question, when y'all are all focused on IV and stuff like that, is that for playing competitively? Or just being an insane collector

 

Playing competitively but kinda both?

It's not like I want everything to be perfect IV but if I have something that's perfect IV (or close) I'd like to keep that perfect IV Pokemon in case it becomes competitively viable sometime in the future

Although for SwSh VGC I believe you have to have it Galar caught/bred so might not matter as much anymore

all of this. i dont want to it to be super easy, but the rates published by Pokemon Co about chaining in SwSh are directly incorrect to the rates set in the code and i wouldn't have wasted my time had i known.

hatching eggs is the least fun ever, i feel like shit after i realize ive been literally running back and forth for three hours.

 

It's definitely boring but you at least get more stat control so you can make your shinies actually good haha

 

Apologies for interrupting Pokemon time but has anybody played that Alien Isolation game on the other systems? It sounds pretty good and supposedly runs great on the Switch

Technically the goal is to play competitively but really it's about the journey lol

 

I know it's weird that A kid's game has this much depth competitively, but it's still a kid's game lol

 

It's both a kids game and a game for teenagers and adults, which is exactly the strength of Nintendo franchises
