There’s no way there won’t be another major holiday game (next to Pokemon) that we don’t know about yet
I think Zelda is the main thing that would force me to buy one this year. Mainline Zelda and Pokemon are my “console purchase” level franchises
With how poorly the last few Pokemon games have run on the Switch 1, I wouldn't even bother attempting Legends ZA on mine lol
So far the exclusives for switch 2 for 2025 would be (not including “Switch 2 edition” games or ports/remakes) June - Mario Kart July - Donkey Kong Fall - Kirby Air Riders I fully expect a summer direct with at least 1 big unannounced exclusive this fall
But why port that one and not throw it on the service? WW is far more popular and would sell like crazy
Also I'd be perfectly fine if all we end up with is the Gamecube versions emulated as long as they run well. But it's been rumored so long that they're actively sitting on ports, so unless that was bullshit, I don't think we can assume it's dead yet.
If anything Zelda is being ported it will be for the 40th anniversary. Hopefully something similar to the Mario 3D all stars that was for Mario’s anniversary
My hard decision right now is: Do I use my Switch 2 GameCube controller to finally play WW with Switch online? The lack of QoL enhancements from WWHD sound like a huge pain. Do I hope the GCN controller pairs well with my laptop and just play WWHD with Cemu? The Switch Pro Controller has way more lag than my PS5 Dualsense connected to my MacBook over bluetooth, so I don't have a lot of hope Do I let it gather dust and hope that we get WWHD ported in 2026?
I just want to play WWHD one time without having to buy a WiiU (but I'm a stupid slut who will probably still buy a WiiU anyway)
i think we have to remember that it's mario's 40th anniversary so it's not totally out of the question for their to be a mario direct with a big mario game being announced for this fall. if we are getting the next mario 3d platformer this holiday, then i could see it getting announced/teased next month during a direct, and then fully shown off in september for a mario direct, and then out this fall. quick turnaround, but crazier things have happened.
