The general consensus online seems to be that historically speaking they don’t announce the time ahead of time.
My Wii preorder was a shit show. I ordered it from FYE. They apparently committed to preorders that they didn't actually have and I had to wait until like a week after Christmas for it to come. When we finally picked it up, they handed it to me in a black trash bag so nobody would try and rob me haha
I managed to get a Wii on release day in town without a preorder. They had two in a (now long dead) electronics chain store that no one would ever think of when buying video games stuff. In hindsight it is wild how lucky I was given how hard it was to get for so long.
Now that you say that, I think my dad got mine from a similar store. That's how he got lucky because we failed at all the big stores.
I’m definitely doing target. I was going to do in person somewhere but I’m moving into a new city literally 3 days before the switch 2 releases so I need to pre order it online so I can have it shipped or arrive at a store in that city.
For anyone pre ordering online I’d recommend creating an account and saving whatever payment method you’re using that way you don’t have to do that once it’s in your cart. Would save you a good amount of time
Obviously this isn't a guarantee to be right for these pre-orders but figured this may help. Amazon typically updates the deals and home page of its site at midnight PT/3 a.m. ET Best Buy typically updates the deals and home page of its site at 1 a.m. ET Target typically updates the deals and home page of its site at 1 a.m. ET Walmart is a bit of a mixed bag but it tends to update at midnight ET or 1 a.m. ET, and sometimes not until noon.
They are but you have to sign up for invitations to purchase one. Invites aren't going out until May 8th and there is no guarantee you'll get one.
So they're not sending out invites until after other retailers start their preorders? That... makes zero sense. Doesn't it?
Yeah lol, I went ahead and signed up just in case I can't get one from the retailer pre-orders. But I guess it doesn't really matter since they are still making money from the consoles the stores sell, and there will still definitely be demand for them once those sell out.
Yeah I signed up. Plan A is April 24, and if that doesn’t work out hopefully I’ll get the invite from Nintendo. I meet all the criteria. Weird plan though. If anything you’d think that one would go out first
I got a Nintendo invite over here, you couldn’t sign up for it though, you got it via mail based on some criteria (NSO, playtime, newsletter subscription). Didn’t need it though.
to be clear i meant i would pre-order online next week and pick up at best buy at midnight in june lol. won't catch me waiting outside a store hoping i am lucky enough to get one
They do have a splash page for it, so it could just be that they haven't put up a product page yet. Feels to odd that they wouldn't participate.
You can sign up to request an invite here. like @The Lucky Moose said, you'll only get one if you're eligible so you need to have an NSO account and meet some other criteria How To Buy Nintendo Switch 2 - Nintendo US
I just have an OG Switch, but I'm also basically a charity case, so Nintendo should just send me one for free.
