Hey all, question--what's it like playing some of the old games available on Nintendo Switch Online? Like are the graphics OG or are they updated? Does the game play weird at all? My son has mostly been playing MarioKart 8 on Switch but I'm considering getting the Online pass thing so I can play some of the older games I see listed on there and maybe get him into them
The graphics are generally OG/untouched. None of them have ever played weird in my experience. I think a few of them they added online multiplayer to but that’s the only difference between the NSO versions and the original.
They feel authentic to me. The N64 emulation is weird, but I think that's a general N64 emulator issue/trying to use a modern controller with the games.
The games look the same. No updated graphics or anything. The games play like they did in their OG consoles, but some older games suffer from bad camera controls (Mario 64) for example, just like it did on the N64.
I’m just glad the console price didn’t go up. Now the anxiety of awaiting that day and trying to secure a preorder.
Do preorders typically go up at midnight on the dot? So just try for Amazon, Walmart, Target, Nintendo, etc. websites at that time? Does timezone matter?
Couldn't catch me camping out at a store at midnight in 2025, just crossing my fingers in line that I get one. I'm too old for that shit. lol
My dad did me such a solid as a kid and camped out to buy me a PSP on launch day because it was a school night. I still can't believe he did that for me haha.
My dad took me around in the freezing cold trying to get a Wii at midnight for me. We failed at every store, two times being one away from getting one. We had to call it and went home. Woke up in the morning and came downstairs to a Wii. He had gone out again after I fell asleep and got lucky at some store.
I remember going with my dad to stand in line for a Wii pre-order. The deal was that he'd go with me to get a Wii pre-order, but I had to go with him to pick up our garden center business's order of greens for wreaths/garland/etc. since he was making the 2-hour drive to get them that same day. That ended up being a tradition every year after that: we'd go to pick up greens and I'd get a new DS game for the drive.
I mean they just announced it. I'm sure stores will start revealing times soon. The times could even vary by store.
