You're both super wrong and I will enjoy being the SpongeBob and Patrick in that meme when they get remastered.
If they double dip into Mario casting, Anya Taylor-Joy for Zelda. Jack Quaid Link. Javier Bardem Ganondorf. I really have no clue what direction they’re going to take this.
I hate this too, almost as much as jack black. Sorry :( I feel like you need someone who can offer a serious and intimidating figure. The Dave Bautista suggestion from someone makes sense in my mind. After watching that cabin movie I think he has the range. Tom Hardy if he goes into Bane-mode. Beyond that, I’m not sure who else can fit. A lot of the actors I think of as intimidating or imposing are too old. if they do a jack black or Rogen or Drax-version of Bautista, they’ve totally missed the point of a Zelda movie and have gone too childish. Mario can be fun and jokey like it was, but for me, Zelda needs to be darker and more mysterious. More like GoT or The Witcher, although those aren’t necessarily direct 1:1 comparisons.
LoZ isn't hard dark fantasy. Besides for maybe TP, Zelda games can oftentimes be very funny, quirky, and weird.
yes this exists but I definitely prefer the more serious side especially for a live action movie adaptation
Honestly, most Zelda games strike me as having a tone closer to Pirates Of The Caribbean or the more action-oriented Disney animated films than any hard fantasy.
I think even in the best of cases we're getting a white people taco night version of a Miyazaki movie.
I like the first Maze Runner movie and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was pretty good. I'm just gonna have faith. We could be in far worse hands with this.
They could surprise us all and cast kids tbh but seeing a kid beat Ganondorf in live action would just look dumb I think Nintendo is aware people also like when this series knows when to be serious, so hopefully they balance that with their usual kid friendly stuff. And please no cheesy one liners from Link talking about how Ganondorf is right behind him Honestly, if Nintendo is smart they’ll make it a trilogy and make a giant film divided into 3 parts like LOTR. They know this will make money. Shoot the entire trilogy all at once. Allows for more room to explore Hyrule, allow the story to breathe for betting pacing, and most importantly, feel coherent.
Wes Ball's movies already share a similar mature tone that the Zelda series has. Just add a bit more humor and I think it'd work perfect. And when I say a bit of humor, I hope y'all know the extent I mean, and I hope they don't exceed that. Honestly, if it's PG then it's probably going to be ass. And I have nothing against PG movies, but that would say to me that they steered away from the darker elements and went more jokey.
