I never owned Mario 64, weirdly enough. But I played it a ton at friend's houses and beat it for the first time with the DS remake
unfortunately i never owned any first-party N64 games, but have played a good handful at friends' houses as a kid. my parents thought that games based on licensed properties/old school classics would suffice for us when we got ours when i was 6, so we had Toy Story 2, some Elmo game for my youngest sister, LEGO Racers (an underrated gem), and Namco Museum 64. Smash 64 is always great though. i do remember enjoying Mario 64 at my church's youth center, and had some fun with Rogue Squadron and GoldenEye at other points in time
DK64 and NHL Blades of Steel 99 were the first ones I had. People don't really like DK these days but I maintain that it is a goated kids game. The levels were huge and the goals were just obtuse enough to make it feel like you were really discovering something new. Played through it earlier this year and still love it.
I've never played a DK game, I should change that haha. I'm surprised how many people fucking love Diddy Kong Racing, too
I had a Nintendo 64 since I was born. I was playing Mario 64, Hey You Pikachu and that Beetle Racing game all the time when I was a kid
I remember looking at the Blues Brothers game many times in a glass case at the store but my mom always said no because of the insane price
Goldeneye was great. It was funny how much my friends in college hated playing with me because I would demolish them in it and they'd just complain about the primitive controls as if I didn't let them destroy me in Modern Warfare 4 on a regular basis
My dad and I were in line outside of a toy store the first Black Friday after the N64 release and I was hoping to grab Mario 64 but they were sold out by the time we got the N64 so I had to settle on Pilot Wings 64 (which turned out to be an entertaining game for me)
The funny thing is I was never really a fighting game person for various reasons, but the thing that got me interested in Gold was the fact that they had a tutorial mode where you could practice all the special moves. I don't know why I thought that would make a difference. So in the end, I can't answer your question.
My first game was Super Mario 64. I must’ve been like 7 years old or so. I even recall the moment my brother and I turned it on. Felt like a revelation.
I remember playing Mario 64 when I was 6 but it had already been out for a couple years. The first game I ever remember playing was Super Mario World and Mario Paint on SNES when I was like 4 or 5. I knew Mario before I knew who the president of the US was
I have older brothers so my first Nintendo game was the OG Mario on NES. By my age my first game would have been Super Mario World but the SNES was the only Nintendo system I never owned
