This is fair, but I think if we have any reason to believe this thinking might not apply to a certain game, it should be Ocarina of Time.
Maybe? We'll see when we actually see gameplay but I've never been a fan of the concept of a realistic Zelda world, that's not why I play it and I just don't think it does anything special when there's hundreds of medieval and fantasy games with realistic graphics. I love the charm and whimsy that Nintendo adds to each Zelda game with its own style. Also, just a curious question: if it's a classic game, why does it need to be remade? Wouldn't people experiencing what made it classic in the first place be important? I understand that games are different than movies because of graphics, hardware and controls, but I wouldn't tell people to go watch the remake/prequel of The Thing, I would just have them watch the original.
original ocarina of time is still extremely accessible today and holds up very well, so i'm really not sure what the appeal of a remake would even be
I don't necessarily agree with saying it needs to be remade, just that it's status in gaming justifies why it would be in a sense. I also agree with you about the realistic style mostly, but I am intrigued by it. It is important that people experience it the way it's originally intended, and that's why so much of our discussion is dependent on more information. If they truly care about this remake, and update it and try to modernize it without losing the charm of the original game (or going too far in the modern direction), I think it'll justify it. I do get what you're saying, and maybe I am just choosing to blindly believe. We will have to wait for more information. At the end of the day we both understand why this is such a big decision for them to make, whether that's for better or worse.

I think it's a similar situation to Star Fox in a sense it brings the classic games back to the younger audience that wouldn't play the original because of the graphics and old gameplay.
I'm someone with a Switch 2 who has not played OOT and have only just this year played BOTW as my first Zelda game. I do feel like it would be hard for me to go back and play the original. And after hearing how it is one of the best games of all time for so many people, I will welcome the remake and probably get it day 1.
Yes and I have it downloaded. However, I know myself and I think I will struggle playing a game for the first time that was released 28 years ago, especially with no nostalgia tied to it lol
