Giving fantastic Mr. Fox vibes. I have 0 interest in this game but it’s super cool they’re doing it. They should do a game in the anime art style from the exposition scene in Galaxy. That was rad.
Looks cool but not enough for me to buy a Switch 2. Also isn't this like the 4th time they've remade this game?
While this looks cool in a vacuum, I'm right there with you doubting Nintendo. It's frustrating how so many of their Switch 2 releases have either been upscaled versions of Switch games, or remakes. I'm convinced that when we get a new 3D Mario in 2028 it's just gonna be Mario 64 remastered.
I think that's inaccurate. Mario Kart World, DK Bonanza, Pokémon Pokopia, Yoshi, these are new titles. We have Fire Emblem coming too. Let's criticize, but with precision.
it's also not like Nintendo hasn't done this before. they did it a ton with porting over so many Wii U titles to Switch. it makes sense to at least provide a handful of upgrades/cross-platform releases. and the console is just finishing its first year, so it's not like those titles are gonna set a huge precedent for what gets released during the remainder of its life. i've seen other people say this remake is mainly just a way to capitalize on Fox being in the movie, and that it makes more sense to do something that capitalizes on the system's technical capabilities and serves as an entry point to get people to be excited about more titles - hence a remake rather than a full-blown reboot (which probably would've taken more development time). it's funny this is the fourth version of the game, sure, but if it's successful (which i guess Zero didn't sell that well, especially given it being on the Wii U), i don't see why that wouldn't eventually lead to more follow-ups.
They need to give Falco boots though. How do they expect me to kick someone in the next smash bros with those twig legs?
As someone who has not had a console aside from a switch right when it came out to play BOTW, I don’t mind all the remakes and re releases. I am psyched for some new original games and stories, but I have so much catching up to do. It is odd how few new first party games released on a brand new console
Walmart is going back to the switch 1 trend of pricing physical copy of games $10 cheaper (now the price of the eshop). Starfox physical at Walmart is only $50. Spaltoon Raiders is only $50 and the new Yoshi is only $60.
I think this is a lot of people to be honest. The switch or switch 2 is a lot of people’s first console so they’re remaking what they know works and is great and packaging it for a new audience 20 or 30 years later. Nothing wrong with that. And I think we have gotten a decent number of good new games and will get plenty more coming up.
Switch 2 worldwide sales top 19.86 million, Switch tops 155.92 million Switch 2, Switch, and Nintendo Switch Online price increases announced On latter link: price increases mostly in Japan.
price in the US going up to $500 effective 9/1. tbh, it's not good, but the price increase could've been worse (i.e. Sony)
i guess if you want a switch 2 i'd hop on it now. i personally don't think there are enough games on it yet for me to justify it, but i might jump on it in case the price goes above 5 big ones.
Kyle with some interesting takes. The characters look bad, but it's actually good that they look bad. He said the cutscenes are the best looking cutscene direction he has ever seen in a first party Nintendo title. He also thinks this game will not will not appeal to furries because furries like cute animals and these characters are not cute.
Desperately wishing people could just be normal about the physical appearance of an anthropomorphic fox person.
I will say the new Fox has a thick neck, makes him look less athletic than the original design. Bro needs to get out of his arwing and get in his 10,000 steps
i have no strong attachment to the series, so i don't really care what the characters look like. imo, it looks fine for what they're intending to do. not good, but just fine. but obviously others will be more hyperbolic about it defying their expectations for character design.
The aesthetics of the cutscenes are so 90's summer blockbuster and that is pretty perfect for this game
