I’ve reached level 5 on Wasteland, Rocky Ridges, and now starting Bleak Beach. There is just so much lol
Two areas close together :). One behind a rock wall to put up unown slates, another behind gates you need enhanced cut ability to get past. I can't find much of value down there tho beyond farming for gold flooring
Had plenty of games tho, even if not as many. These were just a few I owned that come to mind - Mario 64 - Zelda OoT, MM - Mario Tennis - Mario Party games - Tony Hawk 1 & 2 - Beetle Adventure Racing - Mario Kart - Smash Bros - Pokemon Snap - Pokemon Stadium games - 007 Goldeneye Plenty to do for a kid haha
I'm not disagreeing with that there's a lot for kids to play and that they had cultural significance. I'm just stating part of the reason why PS1 sold so much better. Those are great games but they're also basically the only games people played on the console. Sony had a massive library of JRPGs, fighting games, sports games, racers, platformers and all of this came on cheaper CDs while Nintendo was still using cartridges.
I grew up with SNES/GB/N64 but was too preoccupied with PS2 by the time the Game Cube came out, so I never played. Even living in college dorms around that time, I never knew someone with a Game Cube console.
Loved my n64 and GameCube. I was definitely the odd one who didn’t have PlayStations. But I prefer Nintendo games.
I knew quite a few with the gamecube - lotsa Melee geeks out there heh. I think I got Gamecube and PS2 around the same time... can't really remember which came first. I think they both got pretty even playing time from me, though I don't think I owned as many Gamecube games. GCN was mainly for Smash, Animal Crossing, Tak and the Power of Juju, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 4... maybe a few others. PS2 was mostly my machine for Tony Hawk, Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, DBZ Budokai, and Rachet and Clank.
I was absolutely an N64 household and all my friends had one as well, I'm just saying what happened sales wise. Mario Kart was fine but I LOVED Snowboard Kids. And you had Diddy Kong Racing as well.
Never played the former, but I only played Diddy Kong Racing for the first time as an adult, and man I sucked at it lol. It's pretty hard! I see why people like it, though. TBH I emulated a few N64 racing games I never played as a kid and I honestly think the Disney racing game had the best handling in terms of racing around and steering?
Snowboard Kids was made by Atlus of Persona fame! You should check it out! You're right, it is pretty hard but it had so much content and was pretty different from the other kart racers on the system. I really liked the color palette of it
I had PSX and N64, loved both, will go to bat for both. Had PS2, will also go to bat for it. Skipped Gamecube though.
PS5 is my first non-Nintendo console since the PS2 and PSP, tbh, and I never even use it heh. Played the Wii a ridiculous amount. Never owned an Xbox console of any kind.
Played a fair bit of CoD and Halo 3 on the 360 when going to friends houses or my suite mates in college, but that's it, and I was ass at both lol
I finally 100%’ed the main game Donkey Kong Bananza earlier this week, and now I’m hooked on the Emerald Rush DLC.
I definitely think so! There are monthly events to get limited statues on your island which are fun too. There’s one going on right now actually.
Galaxy ripped! Big fun. My kid is always Yoshi and I’m always Bowser Jr. in Mario Kart. We loved it. My wife who is generally tepid about kids moves thought it was very cute and funny. I thought the action moments were genuinely impressive.
100% doesn't mean destroying everything, right?? Because that would be insane and I would ask that you seek help lol
