source is the same guy who's leaked a handful of Nintendo-related announcements recently (i forget which ones, but i recognize his name - NateThe Hate). supposedly he says 3D Mario drops next year and a new Direct comes in June. definitely not opposed to an OoT remake.
I would love an OoT reimagining. Keep the story the same, modernize the game play and map. We already got a decent 3DS remaster, no need to do that again
The same person is also claiming another Switch Sports for this summer Ocarina of Time remake has been heavily rumored for about a year and is an easy day 1 buy. Star Fox would be neat if it goes back to Star Fox 64 gameplay
yup. that was my only holdout for the OG version. played baseball up until the beginning of high school, so in a way, it would fill a small void (aka some of my only athleticism)
Certainly a possibility but I'd rather they try than get the same game for the millionth time that we can already play on NSO or emulate on our phones
Miyamoto's obsession with the Wii U gamepad hindered Star Fox Zero and I am hoping for a major bounce back. I just love this series too much and I need more of it. I really resonated with Star Fox 64. I was so fascinated with this team of random animals working together and saying all this (unintentionally) funny shit. There's been some quotable games in my lifetime, but this is THE game. I even felt like all the side characters (Bill the Dog, General Pepper, Falco's girlfriend, Star Wolf's crew, etc...) were all created to have some kind of back story. So much personality was given to all characters. I haven't even mentioned how good the gameplay was. And the introduction of the rumble pack. The graphics. The soundtrack. The alternate levels/paths. The boss fights. The emotional bit with James McCloud at the end. This game really hit on all cylinders for me.
As someone who has more than once watched YouTube videos of the OOT pc port and wished I had the slightest idea/necessary equipment to get that working for myself, I’m sooo pumped if this rumor ends up being true. There’s a huge amount of it I haven’t played since I was like 11 and I would love to do the whole thing again on a modern tv. I dunno how much I want them to change. I think ideal world it’s closer to a 1:1 remake than not, but with enough new stuff to make it feel a bit fresher. Add stuff to the field, flesh out the towns. I vaguely remember there being a lot of stuff that was rumored to be cut like another temple and the ice unfreezing, would love to see them finally deliver on that. I have to imagine they recognize this is the biggest remake they’ll ever do and have given it the work it deserves.
I would love a new non-BotW/TotK Zelda game that isn't a remake, but if they add enough to OoT to make it feel fresh, I wouldn't be opposed to playing through it again.
I definitely think an OoT remake is a corporate copyright based decision. We have had multiple bootleg Ocarina remakes and remasters the past decade, and I can't imagine Nintendo is happy about it. Probably want to just release their own so those stop.
Now my question is their OoT remake gonna be just an HD cleaned up version of the original graphics or are they gonna try to recreate OoT with the BoTW and TotK engine with the the cell shading and whatnot?
That feels like something a special edition of a game would do as an extra. Didn't DQ11 Deluxe come with an old school top down 2D version of the game you could play?
