I need to ask him better details. Sorry, I'm frustrated because I'm just getting my 11 year old's version of what's going on. Stay tuned. I'll text him real quick. (The game is Risk of Rain 2 btw, hopefully we can play together soon, it's a fun one and on sale now)
Here's what he said to your question: "I can't even play the game. It asks me to link the virtual game cards"
Here's my guess. If your Switch 2 is the primary console then probably that's where the game got installed and he needs you to send the virtual game card over to his system for him to play it. I would check your Switch 2. This is just a working theory though.
i think there's something about VGCs and transferring capabilities involving the primary console, so i think you're right.
do you see the VGC in your list of VGCs? if so, check to see if there's an eject button. if there is, eject it. make sure your son sees the VGC in his list too, and once you eject it, he can load it on his system
I built this last year. I absolutely love how they were able to get the game cartridge art as stickers. Even though Super Mario Land 2 is probably my favorite OG Game Boy game, I still have fond memories from the original.
My kid saved up his tooth fairy / allowance cash for Mario kart 8 deluxe. Whoever says deluxe is better than world is WILD. The fluidity and freedom of the grinds, wall rides, and tricking is so good in world. I get that there’s not that many circuits but I have no doubt it will have as many tracks over the next couple of years. It literally feels like the difference between an arcade game and a console game to me. Having link as a playable character is cool though.
Whenever I see Mario Kart discourse it’s always “MK Deluxe has more maps” and like …. yeah they added like 50 courses over time as DLC. Mario Kart World has been out for less than a year. I also think knockout mode is the best thing the series has ever done
I kind of think of everything through the eyes of my kid and having a free roam option is an unreal thing for a kid to have. We’ve had so much fun going through maps learning grind and wall ride tricks. It’s so funny that people don’t like a game that is better in every way other than the amount of maps. I didn’t play games for over a decade so I’m sure I’m missing the time it was out and the best thing that had ever come from Mario kart. I really want double dash to come to online, I have a lot of nostalgia for that game. The double racer gimmick would be fun to revisit.
the more i've seen of MKW recently, the more i'm intrigued to play it. my suspicion is that they'll either drip-feed a few more tracks and characters over a longer period of time, or wait before going in on a larger DLC pack (the same way they did with 8 Deluxe). i don't think they'd add a ton so quickly after release.
Gamers are always dumb about things like this. People complain about Marvel Tokon starting with 20 characters even though that is more than a very normal amount for a fighting game to start with. Like, Mario Kart 8 is a +10 year old game that was released twice, of course it has more maps.
I enjoy MK8 Deluxe more because I think it has better designed tracks but World is still fun. I just prefer the looped circuits more than tracks in World. I like the customization for vehicles more in MK8 deluxe also.
I do think Mario Kart World is the infrastructure for a much better game, whether that's done through DLC or a sequel or whatever, because the open world concept is great but it needs to be filled with more things to do. I wish it was more like Diddy Kong Racing.
MKW was just disappointing with the open world not having a ton of content. As far as core gameplay I definitely prefer MKW, but the amount of content in MK8 deluxe has me going back to it just as much as MKW.
I suppose I spent two years being certain there’s no way I’d like TOTK more than BOTW and now I’m having the time of my life as I get through the story.
to be clear, people are complaining because its a 4v4 and there's gonna be a lot of repeat teams also, its the FGC, they complain about everything
To be fair, it's less a true 4v4 and more a 1v1 with assists, since your team shares one life bar and there's no dedicated swap button. Also, not the point.
