Nintendo announced the Switch passed the DS in sales at 155 million. Switch 2 is at 17 million. Still the fastest selling console in its first 6 months by a long shot.
I heard from a reliable source that the Nintendo switch is gonna go up in price at the end of Nintendo fiscal year which is next month. We shall see though
If they increase the switch 2 again they better announce it alongside a new Mario or Zelda. No one is going to drop $550 to play tomodachi life and Mario tennis
saw a YouTube video today where some reviewers got to test out NSO Virtual Boy (in addition to a handful of upcoming titles). got official confirmation that you will need the standard or cardboard Virtual Boy model to play it. no TV mode whatsoever.
I don't get why this is being presented as "one or the other" when there are other options, ones I still have questions about. Like, okay, no TV mode, but surely you could still undock the console and play it portably or with the kickstand down? Does it detect when you don't have the attachment?
i'm assuming it only outputs in stereoscopic, meaning that if you tried to play it on your TV, you'd just get two side by side images (unless the software can detect being connected to a dock and tells you it can't operate without some sort of eyepiece). i know it's also compatible with Labo (at least for Switch 1), so i'm assuming people will find a way to manufacture decent third-party options. i just don't really care about the 3D effect and would much rather enjoy the games from the comfort of my TV
I appreciate your position, but I don't think this answers my question. I'm not concerned about playing it docked and on a screen; just on playing it in handheld mode without an attachment.
my bad, i meant to comment on handheld mode. i assume it would still work the same - a forced stereoscopic image only, even if in handheld or tabletop mode (similar to earlier VR on mobile initiatives like Google Cardboard). you could use it outside of a dedicated device, but you wouldn't be able to view it properly. since the "official" ways to play it are both made of plastic or cardboard, i don't think there'd be an automatic way to detect if you don't have it in the attachment. i used to have Google's old VR headset - the Daydream - and it operated by using NFC to detect that you were placing your phone in the device, switching to stereoscopic mode once the NFC tag in the device was scanned. iirc, the only NFC reader in the Switch or Switch 2 is in one of the JoyCons, so i don't think that would be employed here. idk, it's all confusing and a bit stupid, even if i'm intrigued by trying it out. i'll probably put in an order for the cardboard version or see if someone else has a good alternative.
Better than nothing, but man, we need that general direct for first party titles. My cope is telling me the general direct will be so stuffed that they need a partner direct to go with it for 3rd party software.
As long as we're getting games/exclusives for the Switch 2, I really don't care if they're first party or not right now. They're coming eventually and that's good enough for me.
feels like they're just building up to the general Direct. I'm hoping for an Indie Showcase next week and then the general one the following week.
Duskbloods and Halo please I plan on getting RE9 at the end of the month since it’s been confirmed to still run at 60 fps which is impressive. Don’t expect to get another 3rd party soon after that.
don't think we'll get it this soon, but i'm hoping the rumors of a Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor port are eventually true
