Me and my 4 year old have been doing the same with Bananza, love being able to play it with him.

Developing a profound love hate relationship with the depths in TOTK. The treasure takes forever to find and is infuriating, but then when I finally find it, I’m psyched out of my mind.

I got to Cronos last night in Hades 2. Should I quit my job so I have more time to dedicate to this game?

I've made it to the second phase of the Cronos fight and feel I have accomplished more than I ever have in video gaming. Actually, I can consistently make it the Cronos fight now, but things tend to breakdown for me when the enemy has quicker attacks.

Oh my god stumbled into the master sword side quest today. I think TOTK has surpassed BOTW for me, at least in terms of story. Very wild and surprising scenes going on.

Ok so I just upgraded from individual to family NSO… I already have a family group linked but they don’t have access to NSO. What am I doing wrong here? Googling just tells me to add them to the family group but that was already done long ago

Remove them and have them add again and see if that works

Just to follow up on this, it’s a child account so it doesn’t let me remove them from the group, only delete the child account. I don’t want to do that and then he loses all his stuff. Why does Nintendo have to be so difficult

I ran your problem through ChatGPT and probably doomed the Earth, but here's the possibilities:

1️⃣ Parental Controls are blocking NSO (most likely now)
Even with a Family plan, NSO does NOT override parental restrictions.

On the parent / family admin account:

Nintendo Account → Family Group → Child account → Restrictions
    Check specifically:

Online play → must be Allowed

Communication with others → Allowed (some games require this even for matchmaking)

Data sharing / online services → Allowed

If any of these are blocked, the child will behave exactly like they don’t have NSO.

    ⚠️ Common trap:
Parents allow “Online play” but leave “Communication with others” blocked — many games still fail.

2️⃣ The Switch user profile is linked to the WRONG Nintendo Account
This happens a lot when a Switch was set up before the child account existed.

    On the Switch itself:

    System Settings → Users

    Select the child’s profile

    Check Linked Nintendo Account

    What you want:

Linked to the child Nintendo Account, not the parent

Not “Not linked” or linked to an older dummy account

    If it’s wrong:

    Unlink it

Re-link to the child’s real Nintendo Account

3️⃣ Child is in the family… but not under the admin who owns NSO
Family Membership only applies to the family group owned by the purchaser.

    Confirm on Nintendo’s website:

The account that bought NSO is Family Admin

The child appears under that same admin

If the child is under another adult account:

They will NOT get NSO, even though it looks like a family

4️⃣ Cloud saves work but online play doesn’t? → Game-level age gate
This is how you can tell it’s not NSO:

If NES/SNES/Game Boy apps open → NSO is active

If cloud saves sync → NSO is active

But online play fails → it’s a parental or age restriction inside the game

Some games flat-out deny online play for under-13s unless explicitly allowed.

    30-second litmus test (do this)
On the child account, try to open:

Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online

    Result meanings:
❌ “You cannot use this service” → permissions / linkage

❌ App won’t launch at all → account not recognized as NSO member

✅ App launches → NSO works, game restriction is the issue

    Bottom line
Since the plan is Family, the problem is almost guaranteed to be one of:

    Parental control flags

Wrong Nintendo Account linked to the Switch profile

Child attached to the wrong family admin

I did the exact same thing and nothing worked. Surprisingly what worked was just reinviting without removing and now he’s just on there twice but it works.

Man I keep thinking TOTK is going to level out and it keeps surprising and delighting me. Committed to only doing a temple once a month and doing a run through the whole map without fast traveling. Slowly collecting the tear memories and I am floored by this story.

That’s cool Prime 2 will be available, I dont know how the controls are for that game, but I had 0 issues with playing the GameCube version of wind waker. I am probably 25% of the way through prime HD, it isn’t my favorite, but i will come back to it at some point.
