trying to decide on a Switch 2-related Christmas gift for my partner. we've played through Super Mario Galaxy and a good chunk of SMG2 together via 3D All Stars & Wii, so i figured the dual cartridge that runs at 4K on the Switch 2 would be a nice gift, but i'm also considering MP4 (which we're both interested in to varying degrees despite never playing a Metroid game). at the same time, i'm also leaning towards the accessory route, and either swinging for a microSD Express card (probably 512 GB) or a Switch 2 Pro Controller (since my partner has been having problems with his old Power A wireless controller for a tiny bit). just kinda stuck on which option to go with.
Get Kirby and the forgotten land. One of the best games on switch. Looks great on switch 2 plus there’s the DLC. Can play coop and it’s actually pretty decent coop imo.
Air Riders is an incredible local multiplayer game if you can get past it being a Kirby game. Otherwise, a pro controller is a great choice
also, started up Metroid Prime 4. game pretty. hated Myles within 5 seconds of meeting him. like, i'm not opposed to Samus having companions if they weren't so unbelievably terribly written w the most cliche dialog IMAGINABLE and holy SHIT it's only been like 15ish min but he just will not shut the fuck up omg if i can get hyperbolic here, this is gonna straight up ruin the entire experience for me if he tags along the entire game
I’m sorry I fell for Kotaku clickbait. Leaving the post up for context. the desert has an ambient track playing, The amiibo merely unlocks a jukebox early that you can also unlock by finishing the game.
Myles is certainly not great but I've played for roughly 6 hours and he is really only bad at the beginning. After that he is relegated to one or two lines every time you finish up an area. I also turned speech volume all the way down pretty quick and it made things way more bearable. Gave the game a weird old school feel to it that I am personally into.
Wrapped up Road Trip in Kirby Air Riders and the ending was really fun. I absolutely love the designs they did for the bosses. Nightmare in particular is just *so good*. Also pretty happy they introduced two new legendary machines. All in all, I don't think I could've asked for much more in a sequel to one of my favorite GameCube games.

having fun w Prime4 yesterday; got close to getting the bike, died, then realized at no point in the long path there did i find a save point and lost like 45min of progress
holy shit i just realized where the save room was the ONE room I didn’t go in in the bike room, jeezuz lol
