Speaking of Zelda. I’m getting more interested in Age of Imprisonment the closer to release. I enjoyed age of calamity but I felt the story was a bit weak. Age of Imprisonment is also fully on the cartridge so I’m leaning towards giving it a try on switch 2.
I’m not a fan of the warriors gameplay either tbh. It’s a bit repetitive. But the hyrule warriors has a certain charm to it, plus anything Zelda pulls me right in for story sake. I was surprised I enjoyed age of calamity as much as I did.
Age of Calamity was fun as a companion to BOTW, so if Age of Imprisonment is similar, I’ll probably like it
https://spotify.link/ztlGj6ZDNXb Interesting and concerning state of the industry talk (incl. touching on what we talked about re: Pokemon’s production value vs. price) starting at 01:59 or so (but takes a few minutes to really get going).
Started playing Mario Galaxy. Great game. Only thing is I hate how Wii motion control gimmick bullshit translates to the switch. Nintendo would design their entire games around Wii motion controls and I don't like how it plays on Switch. The Skyward Sword port is nearly unbearable to me.
Yeah the Wii Remote was simply better at it, especially Wii Motion Plus, and even then it was questionable haha. Wii Sports Resort to me was really the only time that I really was amazed rather than either indifferent or annoyed.
The gyro sensor stuff is the toughest to play on switch 2. The level where you have to fly the bird in Galaxy 2 while turning the switch 2 console was not fun. The only level in the game I dreaded going back to.
I am at the part in Galaxy where you have to balance on a ball while using motion controls to roll it the end of the course. It's driving me insane. I have to use the actual joycon to get it to work and even then it's hard as shit.
Switch controls for Galaxy 1 are pretty ridiculous. went through it a few years ago in 3D All Stars, don't know how we beat it. picked up the OG Galaxy 2 a couple years ago as a Christmas gift for my partner and still haven't come back to it, but i'm assuming when we pick up the Switch port, it'll probably be just as odd
I bought the Galaxy 1/2 bundle for Switch and basically played one hour before I said no thanks due to the controls. Especially b/c I much prefer playing handheld to docked.
I had absolutely no problem beating Galaxy 1 with a Pro Controller, I thought it was intuitive enough. Never played it on Wii though
$180 for an 8 LP boxset is insanely reasonable nowadays, even if i wish it was cheaper (there's also a 2xLP standard edition for $40)
i definitely wanna swing for one of these releases at some point, just not sure which one. even if i end up with the black 2xLP, i'd be satisfied. it's pretty rare for Nintendo to get involved with vinyl
For some reason the 2x LP is $40 on the laced record store before shipping, but it’s $50 on the Nintendo store before shipping
Nintendo offers free shipping after $50, so it works out to roughly about the same across both sites, give or take a couple bucks (Laced's shipping for the 2xLP is a little over $10, and $16 for the 8xLP)
Nintendo said the BOTW vinyl is a test for US audiences. I imagine more games will get the vinyl treatment if BOTW sales well 'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Soundtrack Gets Vinyl Release “In the Japanese market, CD is still a pretty prominent format there, and they do a lot of video game soundtracks on CD in Japan, and they’ve been doing that for years and years,” Nintendo Vice President, Player & Product Experience Bill Trinen told Variety. “Here in the U.S., we haven’t been releasing much in the way of physical soundtracks at all. And so partly, this is a little bit about us trying to gage and understand what is the demand for physical soundtracks in the United States. Part of this is also simply an interest in trying to bring video game music to a broader audience, and it’s part of a few steps that we’ve taken.”
for anyone playing Ball X Pit on Switch 2, a free Switch 2 upgrade came out yesterday. I'm not sure if those download automatically or not.
also, I've been using the dbrand grips for a couple of weeks and they've made a huge difference in comfort, like no more cramping during longer sessions. well worth the $25 (after TN tax and shipping) if anyone is in the market.
i've considered picking up the Killswitch in the future, but we've primarily planned on keeping the console docked, so it's not a high priority purchase
