I absolutely love DK and Mario Kart, but I think a mainline Mario game would be what convinces me to finally buy the Switch 2. I really want one, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to drop that much money on gaming....but I don't think I would be able to resist a new Mario
I’ve seen a lot of rumblings that a different team is working on the next 3D Mario, but that’s obviously with a massive grain of salt. There have been rumors for 3-4 years that the Odyssey team was making a 3D DK, and that turned out to be true. If they started after that in the next 3D Mario it likely won’t be for 4-5 more years, and that seems unlikely. Either way, I doubt it will come this year. But hopefully sooner rather than later. In the meantime, I’m a huge DK fan and couldn’t be more excited about Bananza!
I don’t think another team makes 3D Mario. However, it’s probably likely that part of it has been working on 3D Mario already, while the rest of it moves to 3D Mario after shipping DK.
Nintendo is also notorious for spacing out games. Even if a 3D Mario was ready this fall it wouldn’t release with a packed last half of the year. Personally, if I were to guess: 2025: Mario kart and DK 2026: 3D Mario and Luigi Mansion 4 2027: Zelda and Smash Ultimate port
2026 also probably has actual mainline Pokemon. Also Animal Crossing must be close to done. I think it’s way more likely than 3D Mario in the near future (incl. 2026). Also Splatoon 4 is I guess I have, but not a very strong one.
2026: fire emblem 2027: fire emblem 2028: fire emblem Ps I’m actually really enjoying pokemon violet now
Idk Nintendo has never done more than one sequel for a Zelda game before and it would take a lot of time to build a new open world map from scratch. Fans are already complaining about having the same map in TOTK, so we shall see!
Got this 8bitdo pro 2 case and its perfect for the new pro controller. I really want to protect this beautiful piece of hardware and this did the trick.
3D Zelda titles used to take 2-3 years between them until skyward sword. TOTK took longer because covid. I could see 4 years for a 3D Zelda. Or another top down Zelda. No way we don’t get some version of Zelda within a couple years
Well yeah they’ll make a new open world, but there’s no way they’re making a non-open mainline Zelda next. A remaster maybe.
Video games in general just take drastically longer than they used to, especially at that scope. But we’ll see.
I just think if we get another open world map were looking at another 6-7 years from TOTK and thatssss not great haha. But yeah we'll see what happens. I personally still think a reimagined OoT story would be dope. Not just a remaster
Is there a website to track which major retailers have the S2 in stock? I remember I used one years ago to find a copy of the SNES Classic console
I caved and ordered a second switch 2 dock lol. It's just annoying moving my dock between living room and bedroom every day Also, after playing a few hours of BOTW with the Switch 2 pro controller last night... Yeah, it's great. It's so much quieter and feels way more premium than the one for the original Switch
It would be neat if they found a way for an open world Zelda to seamlessly switch from the perspective of a 3D Zelda to top down view Zelda. Like a mixture of 3D/2D but allowing the player to switch back and forth whenever they want.
