Curious if you have examples where the mappable buttons have been useful to you? I'm having trouble imagining what use I would have for them
I’ve used them for remapping A. I was mid in a play-through of Hollow Knight when the S2 came out and since then I remapped A and it makes it way smoother and I don’t have to move my thumb off the joystick.
That’s why I did lol. It’s absolutely an intentional move by Nintendo to get people to get the new one, but it worked on me
On other controllers for other consoles or PC it is commonly used for multiplayer shooters, so that you can crouch and stand up while moving and shooting etc. That’s not really a thing on Switch though. It can be useful for random things though, like the example above.
Immediately tried out BotW and TotK Switch 2 editions. You can see the sky islands from the ground even from a far distance. That’s insane
Played MKW in handheld mode extensively for the first time last night…the Switch 2 just feels so much more solid. I was a little nervous when hearing about the magnetic joycons but in practice they feel amazing. And if Mario Kart looks and plays this smooth I can’t wait to see DK Bananza in action, especially if the Odyssey team is behind it.
Hell yeah, the magnetics are great. I can't believe how locked in they are, they feel less wobbly than the Switch 1 joycons. Kinda crazy how easy they pop off just by pushing that release button
Love the magnets and the new joy-con, but I will say I feel like the console as a whole feels more breakable? I don't know if it's cause it's bigger/ heavier whilst being thinner, but I'm absolutely terrified of breaking it whenever I put it down or take it into a new room. The original 'felt' much more sturdy, despite objectively not being.
What in particular feels more breakable to you? The joycons safely pop off if you pull them hard enough without pressing the button. I've seen YouTubers actually kind of "bend" them off with force and there was no damage
I know what you mean, but I think that may just be natural carefulness around a new shiny toy lol. It is actually the exact same thickness as the original Switch (apparently 13.9mm). I think after a little while it will feel more normal. I don’t know if I will ever fully trust holding it one-handed by a joycon though, no matter how strong those magnets are!
It's the actual body of the console, personally, rather than the joy-con. Maybe it's not the thickness (didn't realise they were exactly the same) - maybe it's the rounded edges? Or or the body being bigger and thus needing to be more careful handling one handed? Or subconsciously because it's 'new' like wheneyeawoke says! It's hard to describe. I don't think it's like shoddy workmanship or anything, there's just something in it which makes it 'feel' more like to break when handling.
I think it’s because it’s expensive and new that you feel that way, I feel the same but actually am pretty sure it is more sturdy lol
Anyone grab Fast Fusion? It's cheap and looks like it flexes the Switch 2 hardware pretty well. Got my pro controller it is FANTASTIC
Obviously dying to play stuff on my new Switch so I got this. Solid rogue from the reviews. Lost in Random: The Eternal Die for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Official Site
Curious what kind of battery life are people getting on Switch 2? I'm losing about 1% every 1-2 minutes playing botw in airplane mode, maybe about 60% brightness.. Guessing I would barely get 2 hours before dying. Kind of a bummer on an old game, but maybe due to the switch 2 enhanced edition?
Did it actually die or did the battery just get low? The battery display issue that has been happening is not the battery actually getting depleted just the calibration between the percentage and the actual battery percentage not being right. Try the fix the I posted the other day and see if it helps.
