now that performance is seemingly fixed I think it's pretty great, if you haven't played since Emerald there's like 700 new Pokémon since then so I'm sure you'll have a lot of "woah cool" moments playing, I'd recommend it personally
Scarlet/Violet was my first one since Red Ruby/Green Emerald and I loved it despite its performance issues. It quickly became a game that I couldn’t put down and I even completed the Pokédex for the first time since Red/Blue. Edit: I should add that I did start Y and Sword but bounced off each of them after only a couple of hours. Violet hooked me pretty much right away and I was happy to let it overtake my life for a couple of weeks.
They are two very different games at this point as far as how the story is set up but the core of catching and battling is still there. S/V is full open world and you can challenge the gyms in any order. But overall I’d say yes. It’s had the best reception in a while, even from the more casual audience. The best thing imo is you get fast travel early and you can access your whole box anywhere. They definitely added a lot of good QOL updates to this game.
If you like the catching and training creatures, turn based combat and open world games, then probably yes
For what it’s worth: I came down on those games hard and have since done a 180, I adore them, and now is the best time to play them
Just depends on which legendary you want really There are some other version exclusives mons but you can get those easily. Scarlet has the past based paradox mons (they are reimagined variants of current pokemon), Violet has the futuristic paradox mons.
Discounting nostalgia, Scarlet and Violet are the best time I've had with a pokemon game and that was before the seemingly significant Switch 2 update.
https://a.co/d/3lgNI6O I love this glass screen protector and the plastic guide it comes with makes it very easy to put it on perfectly. Comes with 4 in case you screw it up lol. Probably the only time I've ever put one on with zero air bubbles
Replaying now, I forget, when can I ditch the ugly school uniform? I got a new hat, socks, shoes and glasses at least lol
Maybe I’m dumb but I don’t think you can until the DLC (when you get the festival outfit), which technically I guess you can do as soon as the three questlines start
Has anyone else noticed their Switch 2 gets pretty hot after playing in docked mode? I worry about it degrading the battery overtime ngl
I will say I think it's a bit overkill how many more Pokemon spawn now, it's hard to walk around them lol
Mine gets warm but not really hot. I just assume it’s because it’s really pushing the power when docked. I’m happy it doesn’t get warm when playing handheld.
I picked up Violet, but I think the pokemon you get in Scarlet look better. The futuristic robot pokemon in Violet are kinda eh
Mario Kart is great but I wish there was a mode where the grand prix’s were 3 laps in each of the actual courses and less of the “traveling between courses” sections.
