A new 3D mario game is very unlikely because the studio that makes those made Donkey Kong Bananza. They don’t hand off Mario to a lesser studio and that is their premier studio.
did we ever found out for sure that the bananza studio is the odyssey studio? i thought it was still just assumed. regardless, i don’t see a world in which we are potentially years away from the next mario 3d platformer. while it may not be out this year, i fully expect next year. i could see mario maker 3 with mouse controls being a potential fall game?
As is Nintendo's way these days, they have not confirmed who developed Bananza. Also, after Minnmax had a hands on with the game, they said that the quality felt more in line with a Kirby and the Forgotten Land rather than a Mario Odyssey. So no real gaurantee either way, imo.
True, it is not confirmed, Nintendo always says read the credits, but people who usually know this kind of stuff are sure that it is a Tokyo EAD game. They could be wrong of course. More Mario Maker would be sick.
Mario Maker 3 feels like a no brainer I think a new Fire Emblem on the level of Three Houses is due I honestly think it feels like it's time for a new Star Fox. It was the one major Nintendo franchise that never got a Switch 1 game. With the upgrade in graphics and capabilities they should do it.
A new Mario maker would be great. hoping the new Kirby DLC is a decent amount of content. excited for Mario kart and donkey Kong. I don’t mind a semi sparse release slate because I’ll also probably replay tears of the kingdom and some other games.
I would be absolutely shocked if we got a new 3D Mario this year. I would also be absolutely delighted.
Nintendo, if you read this, please do not be making Luigi’s Mansion 4 with next level games. Please do not ask me to buy it. A matter of fact, it would be the worst idea ever.
I think Splatoon 4 will be coming sooner rather than later, but not this year maybe. Also Animal Crossing. Now those are major franchises.
Still think in Mario Maker 3 big new gimmick will be Mario Paint like function with the mouse that lets you design your own level background art. I also think they'll let you use the new camera to allow you to play custom Mario levels as yourself.
Next Level Games made Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Luigi’s Mansion 3. Rumors are that they are currently working on LM4
Oh I totally thought Lm2 was done by someone else Idk, I loved 3. Easily my favorite LM game, and it's amazing how well optimized it was on such crappy hardware haha
I admit I was never into creating levels in Mario Maker. I just liked trying to get decent times on some of the hardest levels that other people made.
They made LM2 for the 3DS to be exact. The LM2 HD port for Switch was made by someone else. Next Level Games also recently made Mario strikers for switch, but since 2023 they’ve been free to be working on whatever game comes next, which is hopefully LM4 for a 2026 release (which would coincidentally be the 25th anniversary of LM1).
