Playing through the DQXI demo and just got Erik to join the party. If Im not really enjoying it, is it worth continuing on? Does it get any better? Also, how far am I into it?

  2. I had never played a Crash game before picking up the trilogy for Switch and they were a lot of fun. The difficulty does spike up surprisingly high in some of the later levels though.

I have never played a Spyro game either so I was really hoping they would bring the trilogy to Switch. Excited to dive into those sometime soon.

it’s a shame they’ll probably never make a console sequel to Fantasy Life (the mobile one doesn’t count) because there’s a formula there that’s worth improving on.

I'm maybe 1.5 hours into the DQ XI demo and it seems kinda...bland? Silent protagonist from a quiet village undergoes coming of age ceremony and that sparks his hidden powers? Plus the battle system for this series has always been the weakest part imo so there's nothing to pull up the rest of the shortcomings.

It's very pretty and the VA is great. It's obviously still early but those are just my initial complaints

You have barely scratched the surface
The story is probably 80 hours worth, give it time, it takes a little but the story fleshed out really well about a quarter into the game

You guys got me wanting to buy DQ. Don’t know if I should get that and let it sit there for years or get Mario Maker 2 and play that twice.

Yeah I'm definitely willing to keep going, just some initial thoughts. Can't wait to get more party members

I don’t think the overworld parts of this game are great. After BotW I’m just a little turned off by games that are pretending to be open but are actually pretty confining. Beside that however there just isn’t a lot to those overworld parts. It feels nowhere as lively as say XC2. Also running around often doesn’t feel great, but I think that might be the Switch port. I do feel like it looks sharper than it did in the demo.

9, it has a different kind of overworld, more of a Hyrule Field vibe. I don’t mind the classic 2D DQ overworld btw.

Ohhh I never played 9, wasn't that like MMORPG ish? Or just a straight up MMORPG?

No, that’s 10. 9 was a regular DQ for DS. It was less “traditional” than previous titles (and maybe 11) though, but in DQ terms that doesn’t mean that much.

You might be thinking of the fact that DQ9 had some local multiplayer and some very limited online stuff on the side.

Hmm there was deff a multiplayer aspect, @Shrek always raves about it and mentions the online play

See my edit above. That stuff didn’t really have anything to do with the main game though.
