pretty hyped for the 3 non warriors fe titles. the cell phone game looks kind of simple but there were so many random characters i recognized that it really piqued my interest, could be an ok time killer.

actually giving conquest another go, i beat the chapter i was stuck on so now im excited for this game once again

 

Stoked about all of the new FE stuff, but I'm kinda sad Nintendo forgot about Advance Wars.

 

Advance Wars was amazing. I spent too many hours on that game in middle school. I never played the sequel but the original is a classic in my mind.

 

This direct makes me want to go back and actually beat the Radient games

 

Though the direct said iOS later, seems like it's simultaneous with Android now.

 

Star Fox 64 finally coming to the Wii U Virtual Console has me much more excited than anything new. Combined with Majora's Mask and F-Zero X in the last month, a very strong haul.

 

Crazy. In february we have FE: Heroes. In March we have the switch. On April we have new FE.

Nintendo will be keeping all the diehard fans busy.

 

Advance Wars is my favorite DS game and most definitely in my top 5 of all time.

I had a phase where I somehow memorized the damage chart. So if a tank by Max attacks a tank by Grimm I would already know how much damage it would deal, factoring in terrain. To be fair it was as simple as adding or deducting 10%. But it got trickier when attacking units they're not meant to be attacking (ie Anti Air attacking a tank, or Infantry/Mech trying to kill off a B Copter).

Such a fun game.

one of the reasons that drew me to it was that I love Starcraft but didn't have the dexterity to be good at it, and that i preferred turn-based

The cheapest way is probably on the WiiU VC, the physical games run pretty pricey, even used.

 

I need to start getting thru my PS4 backlog before all this stuff starts coming out. UGH! So many games, so little time.

 

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it sounds like you'll be able to use your phones data/wifi connection to play online when on the go. Probably not true because that would be a clever little idea and we you know how Nintendo feels about good ideas.

 

If you have a phone that can be used as a hot spot (which I'm pretty sure is basically every phone at this point) then you can definitely play online anywhere that you have a cellular connection. As far as how much data that uses? No idea…

 

50/50 on that mobile app as well. I can't picture it yet

More like incompetent when it comes to anything to do with online.

 

This is a legitimately good idea.

 

I haven't played MM but this video made me want to play it next after WW. Instead of OoT

 

Definitely play Ocarina before Majora's.

 

Fire Emblem Echoes looks great. Very excited about the free roaming, I hope they keep that.

Having a game come out for the 3DS after the Switch launch is not weird. Mother 3 came to the GBA (I think) after the DS launch and Pokemon Black 2/White 2 came to the DS after the 3DS launch. A new FE for 3DS can be made fairly easily while part of the developer is working on the FE game for the Switch, which'll need a new engine and so on (as was the case with Pokemon XY). It allows Nintendo to pretty up their software sales during the time that the Switch has a low install base (among other things). Third party developers also do it, on all consoles.

 

So happy we live in a world where FE didn't fizzle out into obscurity. I feel like they're going the right direction on this one. Not a lot of people are big fans of the sim aspect of the newer games so a sort of return to form/experimental route with a smaller team is a win-win (Fire Emblem Echoes). They get to explore new (or old) gameplay mechanics without much fear of backlash and alienation from the Awakening fans, and at the same time we have the bigger release next year which is catered to a larger pool of fans.

Really looking forward to Echoes. It's been a while since I've played an FE game where I didn't have to worry on who marries who. We would probably get a more focused narrative too. And if they decide to make Fire Emblem Echoes their label for remaking old games, I'm so down with that. Also less confusing.
