I'm a little surprised that the two screen gaming is not going to be possible with Switch. I don't think any games really utilized it well. It always amounted to nothing more than a map or inventory screen. It could have been a great feature.

The 2 screens was pretty underwhelming, but I will miss the maps and item screens. Between the remakes on the 3DS and WiiU, I've been playing Zelda with 2 screens for the past 5 years. It's going to feel strange to lose that

I've been coming around on the joycon pricing. I mean a Wii remote+ was $40, and the joycon is more advanced than that. The $90 for the dock still boggles my mind though.

Wind Waker HD is probably my favorite Wii U game. The main competition would be Super Mario Maker, but it is hard to quantify that one.

Haha you might finish the game way before I do. I've only been able to binge on weekends.

I enjoyed playing Triforce online. The problem is no one plays online anymore and the single player is no bueno.

$90 dock? Is that for an extra dock?

I hadn't heard that yet. So essentially they are saying the tablet itself is $110 lol. Dock $90, joycons and grip $100.

This is the first console to ever come with two controllers by default, right? Excluding special bundles and stuff like that. I think that is low-key my favorite fact about it, because it will encourage developers to include local multiplayer that much more.

Same thoughts. That's a huge deal, imo, that a lot of people miss.

Less to worry about for game devs, and more replay value for gamers (especially couples, or those who have siblings who loves to play multiplayer).

That said, bring Zombies Ate My Neighbors on Switch. I still haven't finished that goddamn game.

The idea that the two Joy-Cons are two controllers is likely true for first-party games, but for third-party games there just are not enough buttons. 1 analog stick is not going to work for a lot, and having four buttons that are supposed to be both X-Y-B-A and your directional buttons limits you as well.

The NES has two controllers I think but you're still right

I think for 3rd party AAA games that could be an issue? But for indies and games like dungeon hack and slash or something, the joycon should do fine with a joystick and 6 buttons

A Torchlight-esqe coop game would be awesome.
EDIT: Just realized a Summon Night sequel could fit that bill pretty well
    EDIT2: Defunct since 2010. So that's what happened. Flight-Plan - Wikipedia

Didn't the original Switch trailer show some people playing NBA2k with one joy-con each? Obviously that title is a long ways away from being released, but I think most sports games would work just fine with a single joy-con.

Hoping that comes out on Switch, seeing as it's on Vita

Finished up ALBW. I loved it overall, can't believe it's been sitting on my shelf for a couple years. I though the final dungeon was a bit of a letdown - it's hard to have something super complicated because of the rental system and that there's no guarantee someone will have every item, but it was still a little shorter and less complicated that I might have liked, there were a couple neat puzzles but mostly paled in comparison to the previous dungeons. On that note, after the simpler first few dungeons, once you arrived in Lorule the dungeons were excellent - great uses of each dungeon's specified items, lots of really fun puzzles and just really excellent stuff overall. The flatten mechanic was generally used well and not overused to the point of getting tired of it. It worked well as a last resort type of thing - "okay, I think I've exhausted all my current options, oh, let me flatten against this wall and see where this leads." The dual overworlds were good, packed with little minigames and challenge caves and side quests, I always felt like there was a lot to do. It's definitely one of the better 2D Zeldas - I was never a big fan of the touch controlled DS games so it was really nice to have a classic Zelda (and speaking of gimmicks, the 3D was used really well and looked fantastic, one of the best uses of 3D I've seen on the system).

This just fueled my Breath of the Wild hype even more, I'm totally ready for another Zelda game.

I finally picked up Majora's Mask for 3ds. I needed a Zelda fix to tide me over until the new one. Already finished the first temple. Love this game so much.

So if the Switch doesn't do two screens at all, I wonder if the Breath of the Wild will use the Wii U controller screen in any way. Has Nintendo mentioned anything about that?

I think most of the functionality seems to have been dropped unfortunately. Hoping they still at least have the map/inventory options on there. Super useful in Windwaker HD to swap things quickly,

Last we heard they dropped all Gamepad support in favor of it just mirroring the main screen.

Yeah I'm playing through The Wind Waker now and it is super nice to have the Map and Inventory available on the controller screen. I know using the screen for that kind of stuff is something that people have bashed throughout the life of the Wii U but I prefer that to forced gimmicks that don't add anything to or even hurt a game.
