if Game Freak tried a BOTW style game, it would run at 15 fps. they had four sets of Pokémon games on the 3DS with relatively low detail on screen and still couldn’t avoid massive frame drops out of nowhere in Sun and Moon.

 

Yeah but with the extra processing power of the Switch dock, anything is possible.

Handheld mode will be a slideshow, though, of course.

 

funny thing I dreamt about the direct and in my dream they showed a Pokemon RTS that looked fun. so i’m hoping that’s a thing now.

The whole point of Pokemon is not making those games too expensive (in terms of development costs) and releasing them frequently. A BotW-like would destroy all of that.

 

This may be the first gen I don’t start with the fire starter though.

 

wow now that i think about it i don't think i've played a Pokemon game in over a decade.
Pokemon GO was the last poke thing i ever played, before that, last one i completed (i think) was Pokemon Gold

Historically since gen1 I’ve always done my first playthrough with the fire starter. But this gen I think like the water one more
