Twilight Princess was legitimately the best selling Zelda game until BOTW so I think my point stands firm. The Wii also launched with nearly two dozen games in the US including COD3, Madden and Wii Sports while the Switch only launched with 1-2 Switch, Bomberman and Zelda. I feel very confident in my opinion.

 

Twilight Princess also coincidentally had some of the coolest dungeon concepts

 

No it wasn't. OoT is second, by like three million more. Granted that includes 3D remakes, but then again TP has also been on three platforms.

Also 1-2 Switch sold like almost 3 million copies (coincidentally still less than the difference between TP and BotW), while Wii Sports was a pack-in etc. but sure.

I will say this (because I really don't care THAT much but figured I'd at least clear up my own opinion that no one cares about): I don't necessarily need dungeons or for 3D Zeldas to go to the original 3D concepts, but I've noticed that so many games are coming out with similar premises to Breath Of The Wild (with differences obviously) and I think I'm so fatigued by the number of BOTW-esque games that have come out to thunderous applause that, yeah, I'd like something pretty different than BOTW for the next Zelda. What direction that is, I don't know. Will that keep me from buying if they don't? Probably not.

 

The Lakebed Temple with the central staircase was awesome and the Snowpeak Ruins was such an interesting idea.

 

Forgive me for not including remakes. Also, you are right and still wrong which is hilarious. There is only a 1 million difference.

 

I really want them to pull a Majora’s Mask and use the BOTW engine and assets to build a completely different type of game. There’s so much untapped potential there that some new restrictions might really open up.

Different sources have different numbers, as is usually the case with historic video games sales numbers.

 

I feel like that is probably happening? I would guess they want to reuse that engine for another Switch game, and I don't think they'd want to make BotW 2: BOTW Harder.

 

They're gonna make Starfox Adventures: Wild Fox with it

 

Yeah i think we’ll get that and Mario Odyssey 2 before the switch lifetime is over.

eh every thread on this site is gonna get contentious because these are things people are passionate about and let’s be honest most of us have too much time on our hands or have chorus open at our desks. and debates are fun. if there weren’t arguments and it was just news announcements coupled with “i’m excited”s we would all be happy but bored. it’s the tone that slips too often, and if i’m speaking for myself, a compulsion to respond to every post directed at me regardless of knowing better
