Frankly I don't think they will, not fully. The current team made what they made because that's what they want to make, and it ended up selling better than literally ever.

Would love an open world style with traditional dungeons that can be done in any order. Plus optional side stuff like shrines or something else. That’s the dream right there.

Are they buildings with puzzles and a boss? Yes.

Are they hard walls with very specific puzzles you need to complete or the world comes to a screeching halt? No.

It's funny that every thread on this website (and probably everywhere) always reverts to the same five discussions or arguments.

 

Sold better than ever because it was legitimately one of the only games to play on the new system at launch and it's a mainline Zelda entry. That sold itself regardless of quality. Popularity does not denote how good something is. At the very least it's not mutually exclusive.

I don't think he's oversimplified it. I think he's right on the nose. He said that they were that games version of dungeons, not an exact translation. Hence why they aren't traditional dungeons...

I used to check the politics thread like 10 times each day but once I realized how true this is, I mostly stopped reading it and came here to argue fervently about Final Fantasy IX instead

 

Nobody is saying they literally have to be exactly how they dream of it. At all. We all have wishlists for games and what we hope for. Nobody here is saying “screw their artistic vision, this game better be how I want it!!!”

See you’re looking at it too rigidly. They’re dungeons because they are buildings with puzzles and challenges with a boss. They’re less interesting because they’re all aesthetically the same as each other and aren’t very long.

Dungeons don’t have to mandatory or done in a set order. They don’t have to “bring the world to a screeching halt”. They don’t even have to have a key item in them. They can be totally optional, just like the Beasts. Hence why the Beasts are, at their core, this game’s version of dungeons. They aren’t the same as the dungeons in WW or TP or SS or even ALBW, they’re an iteration of the concept. But they’re still dungeons.

 

Deshaun cleared the Water Temple with a torn ACL as a freshman with no guide, Dak had to use GameFAQs

 

lol I would love to agree, but I think that's exactly what a lot of people are thinking about the next Zelda game, at least that's what the pissy comments that bubble up literally anytime praises BotW's unique features on the internet would suggest
