Absolutely, Schreier has just really annoyed me before so i'm a bit biased.

There's honestly a lot to unpack in this small conversation.

Indies who self-publish are at the control of the buyers, and the gaming community as whole, who have proven time and time again they aren't willing to pay a justifiable and more expensive price for their games. So saying "Indie devs that are self-publishing set their own prices and can charge whatthey feel they need to in order to make back their money," just isn't true. The mindset of the community has to change.

And I agree with you on the ports @Anthony_. Knowingly putting out a buggy port onto a modern console is a shitty business practice. Some people are willing to put up with it because it's still the easiest way to play it, some aren't.

I was just surprised at myself for not being all "BUT ONLY SCRUBS CARE ABOUT SHITIVISION" or something.

 

He's got a pompous aura about him from what i've seen in his interactions. His incessant bashing of Octopath was also annoying.

 

For the record I don’t think anyone is saying that the FF9 Switch port is so bad that it’s unplayable. If you’ve never played the game before, it’s probably a good way to get in on it. But if you care about how it’s presented in relation to how it originally appeared, which includes the way the models look, how the music sounds, the fonts, etc, which some people do really care about, it’s not the best way to play it.

 

Which is why they need to fix the NieR Steam port because it really is unplayable

somewhat off topic and legit not calling anyone out, just taking a phrase i saw Moose reference and going into it a bit: all i know is i’m not about to feel bad about the “waiting for sale” mentality. i have an amount of money i make and i can only spend so much. i can’t afford to put aside responsibility to champion the latest heartthrob developer every time a new one emerges with an awesome passion project. and understand me - i would REALLY love to do that. but it’s not realistic. the games industry is so over saturated in a way that spoils us. there are so many games i want to play! but i can only pay so much and play so many. as a result i am typically a year or two behind on games and buying those older games at reduced prices with the exception of 2-3 full price games a year i will buy on release, because that’s what i can afford to do. it ain’t on me to fix systemic issues within the industry.

I've played most pokemon games at least 5 times through, other than that it really depends on the length. Like I've played all the Uncharted games and TLOU at least 4 times each but they're not very long. Whereas I LOVE Witcher 3 but I've only played it once because it's so long.
