I don't know, me personally, it seems like these are legitimate complaints. Especially the music bug and the bizarre implementation of the fast forward feature.

Looks like I'll stick to the Vita for the straight port of the PS1 original.

 

The thing is, the port might not be great, but of course it’s the PS4/Steam version, what the fuck else would it be? It’s really not worth writing about in this way. Then again all these websites have to keep vomiting out 500 articles an hour.

 

Pretty sure the actual problem is that, much like Bethesda with the Skyrim ports, they're still selling the same port with the same legacy issues and not ever fixing any of them. And that needs to keep being called out because it's the only way things get fixed. Like that awful Chrono Trigger port.

But hey, if consumer advocacy is akin to vomit now ymmv I suppose.

 

I played through Chrono Trigger the way it was meant to be played: on a modded Wii we bought from ebay

 

You would rather take twice the time to play it because of a music glitch like that though? They don't have fast forward on the vita ps1 version do they?

 

No it doesn't but I already own the Vita version so I'm just not going to buy this new one.

 

Inform people that it’s the same, “bad” port. That’s fine and good. I could do without the never ending grandstanding though.

 

The PS1 Classics version of FFIX is supposedly great, if you have a PS3 or a Vita that’s probably the best way to play it.

 

It’s also expensive. $21 for a game that’s like 20 years old and has bugs that were not present in the original is kind of a lot.

Exactly. And especially when the PS1 version is $9.99 if you have the means to play it that way.

I for one am glad that Jason saved me the $21. I'm not going to support SE's laziness, especially when they've demonstrated in the past that they can port things properly when they want to (see: FFX, FFXII)

 

If you have never played the game or haven't played it in ten years 20 bucks is a damn good deal.
