Pokémon isn’t a first-party Nintendo property like Mario and Zelda are and the marketing usually reflects that. Don’t expect a gen 8 announcement tomorrow. They’ll probably have their own direct next month or so because they like doing their own thing.

It kind of is though. GameFreak is not an in-house studio, but Nintendo owns a significant chunck of it and Nintendo also, in a more conveluted way, is the majority owner of the Pokemon IP. The only reason Pokemon isn’t in-house outright is because they wanted to spread it out this way as it was basically too big to contain. That’s also why they keep it somewhat seperate in terms of marketing and so on, as there is still this parallel Pokemon-only customer base to an extent that the other IPs don’t have.

i put 200+ hours into the Wii U edition of Hyrule Warriors and couldn’t possibly disagree more

 

I would do horrible, disgusting things for another game in the Link Between Worlds style.

Edit: P. S. The Switch port is much, much better than the Wii U version. They added a bunch of quality of life adjustments that made it feel great to play.

 

hyrule warriors is actually terrible, even worse than the "botw is not a good game" takes.

 

The problem is that with complete candor I would rate BOTW a 7/10 and HW (for Switch) probably an 8.5.

 

Someday I will finish BOTW

 

Even if you don't think it's a good game, I feel like terrible is a huge stretch.

 

Why?

 

On my last trip to New England I discovered it is the perfect airplane game

They put me and my wife in separate areas of the plane (fuck AA) and I didn't want to socialize so I played BOTW and it was just tedious enough to make the flight go by quickly
