Just played it when it released on Switch, definitely get it, I believe it's on sale too, go in blind with no spoilers and it is a hell of an experience. One of my most memorable gaming experiences ever.

how the hell does a third party dock brick a console? isn't it like a glorified AC adapter and HDMI passthrough? are they using the wrong voltage? so weird to me. but i also don't give a shit how my dock looks

 

It appears that Nintendo's version is slightly more complicated than you'd think, which means that basic solutions work, until they don't, I guess. Last time I checked, which is a while ago, nobody really knew what was going on exactly.

 

interesting. i've always wondered why there is a disparity between docked and handheld performance. i assumed it was a combination of needing to output in a higher resolution in docked and adjusting for the extra heat of the screen against the internal components in handheld. i need answers!

 

In most cases when there is a disparity and the docked version performs better, it is because the Switch draws more power from the outlet (but somehow only via the dock) than it does from the battery. When the performance is better undocked, it's because the resolution is lower. Usually the performance is better docked however, unless there is no discrepancy at all, which is most of the time now.

 

I’m all physical for my games. I like the option to sell later, physical copies are more fun to collect, and I get like 20% off with best buy’s GCU

I've been reading a lot on the switch subreddit about these prices for games and they all have said that it is a scam. Stay away.


EDIT: I'm not sure about this one in particular though. But I would personally stay away.

 

i am feeling a strong urge to play Xenoblade 2. i have Octopath and DQXI coming my way for Xmas. i feel like those three RPGs are gonna take half of 2019.

 

Ugh, DQ XI is my favorite game in a long long time.

 

i'm extremely excited for it. DQIX was my fav DS game prob.
