it definitely has a bit of a painted on effect going on, the world remains that square foot x square foot look and there is zero topography to speak of. that will all need to change before it looks natural and Game Freak doesn’t make leaps like that any faster than a decade at a time lol. my fav was getting to the ransacked house in Cerulean City with the hole in the wall, and it was still just a perfectly square hole that ran from ceiling to floor. the detail is def lacking lol

thats a fair point. i defninitely dont think the way the models looks i ideal, but maybe more of a step in the right direction?

as for your above post, yeah the world could definitely become too crowded but if you implement more systems that give conditions to the pokemon that appear in the overworld that could fix that. they could actually get better use of a day/night system and seasons (like in bw) as well as things like sinnoh/hoenn sounds (from hgss) as well as different spawns during post game.

at the same time im also looking for large changes (that gf is likely to poorly implement) that would further expand the world feel of the games, particularly with the jump to switch. adhering to what worked before is nice and all but in that case i dont really care whether the game is on switch, or 3ds, or whatever.

 

i really do love the game, though. i dont consider myself someone that gets too sentimental and nostalgic but this has been an exception and i’ve been enjoying every second of it. i would never call it a GOTY or anywhere close objectively but personally it’s been one of the more just purely enjoyable gaming experiences i’ve had this year

I personally think they should have kept the pixel art and made full use of the opportunities the new hardware would give them in that regard. They were masters at that and but in terms of implementing their top-down-ish 3D art styles they are average at best compared to say Level 5.

 

i would love pixel art back for almost every franchise i like that ever used it.

 

Aside from the obvious improvements in sharpness etc I think these look worse than X&Y, but yeah I know I’m fucked lol I can live with that though

 

All that being said I’m happily skipping these but if the core games come out and they implemented all this stuff I don’t like I will definitely buy them anyway because at that point it’s all or nothing and I need my Pokemon fix lmao

 

I don’t really get pissed about stuff like this because I usually understand but I’m so mad they did not release the 3DS version of the new Dragon Quest over here

I’m in the market for a bigger micro SD card so hopefully something pops up over the weekend. going to start going all digital because I want everything with me at all times, especially Smash Bros. that and I’m getting lazier.

I watched legit about 3 and a half hours of Civ tutorials yesterday and I am SO glad I did. The game is so fun when you know what's going on in all areas. I still have a lot to learn but am very confident now after doing my research.

 

Is the port good?

I have noticed nothing different than any of my other CIV experiences. Controls were super easy to use and it's fun to use the touch screen when in portable mode. They did a fantastic job.

 

Can you recommend turorials? Back in Civ 5 I always just stumbled around lol

 

Yup! I have the same exact experience, I had played Civ 5 before then once I hit like 150 turns I was so lost and getting my butt kicked. Here are the vid's I watched, this guy is super informative and is not annoying to listen to at all. It's a six part series. I enjoyed the whole thing too because I knew I was learning valuable info.

Also, the best tip I can give you that I happen to see on reddit. Don't start on the easiest 2 difficulty levels, you will create really bad habits from them. I started a new game yesterday on Prince, which is like normal difficulty and it is the perfect challenge after having watched those videos.

 

Enter the Gungeon is half off (7.50) and I HIGHLY recommend it. Great game to just play a round of here and there and has insane replay value for the cheap price it costs. It is hard but also very satisfying when you git at least a little gud.

 

gonna scoop up Hyper Light Drifter tonight probably.

just got home for the holiday so I’m without RDR2 for a bit so I’m diving into Warframe and I really really like it. having a grindy loot shooter in the Switch is pretty perfect tbh. encourage anyone who’s interested to give it a shot. starting to wrap my head around some of the mods, powerups, etc.
